Treating everyone as equals no matter your own personal preferences is a crucial trait for a member of the National Honor Society because a personal bias against a certain group of people changes many different situations and influences your own character.
The National Honor Society is built upon four founding principles: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. I have a high school life filled with dedication to these four principles on the Spiritual standpoint, the Familial level, the Community level and finally at the National level. Moreover, I did begin my dedication to these same four principles even before this starting with the Boy Scouts of America and this commitment will continue along with having a rich future when I reach my fullest potential. Many posses the commitment to the qualities of scholarship, leadership, service, and character, but how one uses them shows the core of their disposition. For each of these qualities, there are many traits, useful in a leader, and not. Since it is only my second year as a student at Carlsbad High School, there has not been much time of my being distracted from my school work as I try to be as diligent of a student as possible. However, from time to time, I take a break and do things for the community instead. The students that make up the National Honor Society are extremely dedicated in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character, and I would be very grateful to be a part of the standards.
It is a great honor to be nominated as a member of the National Honor Society. There are many reasons why I want to take part in NHS. If I get into NHS, it will give me a lot of opportunities to be a leader.
I feel as though I could benefit National Honor Society through my leadership qualities, willingness to dedicate my time to the community, positive character, and perseverance to succeed in academics. While I may not hold many leadership positions at this time, I am able to step up and take charge in any necessary situations. Additionally, one can see that it is important that I take time out of my day to serve others as I devote two hours each weekend to volunteer. My academic standing is also of importance to me, believing that consistency in school is a crucial factor in achieving success. I challenge myself by choosing to take any honors or AP classes available and striving to put forth utmost effort in each class.
There are several different qualities that make up who I am as a person, but there are four that stand out when it comes to being a National Honor Society member. I strongly believe that participating in service work and having strong leadership qualities helps set people up for a brighter future. As people who are honored to have such fortunate lives, it is our duty to help those who need an extra hand. In the National Honors Society, I would love the opportunity to practice this duty often.
