Being an Orthopedic Surgeon requires rigorous education and expertise. Orthopedic Surgeons work with patients who have had sport injuries, accidents, trauma, etc., that have led to musculoskeletal problems. They work with all the necessary components that allow movement, which includes muscles, bones, tendons, joints, ligaments and nerves. The required preparations/materials to be an Orthopedic Surgeon are four years of undergraduate studying to attain a bachelor’s degree, four years of medical school, five years of residency in orthopedic surgery and for further training one to two years of fellowship is to be completed. After applying, the college board will select who will get an interview and if you get a spot and they want you, you will be receiving an acceptance letter. When you get your acceptance letter, you will be entering your next four years of schooling in medical school. Some of the learning you’ll be doing in the second four years would be reviewing and adding onto what you learned in the previous four years during undergraduate studying. It’s very important that you know the information well and understand it. During the first year of medical school, you will be covering molecular biology, genetics, radiology, microscopic and gross anatomy which ties in with the basic sciences and the human structure, pathology, cellular biology, allergies and immunology are part of the normal functions of the body, microbiology, pharmacology and therapeutics are principles of diseases. Molecular biology deals with the structure and function of the macromolecules (e.g., proteins and nucleic acids) essential to life. In genetics, you will be studying about how risk diseases are passed from parents to children. Radiology focuses on X-rays and other high energy radiation, furthermore you will use radiation for the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Microscopic anatomy is the examination of Minute Anatomical Enhancement through a microscope since it cannot be seen by the naked eye. On the other hand, gross anatomy is the study of anatomical structures that can be examined by the naked eye. You’ll be learning about the causes and effects of disease in pathology. Cellular biology is the study of cells and its structure and functions. Allergies is a condition in which the immune system reacts abnormally to a foreign substance. I then spoke with Dr. Shawn Williams and he gave me enlighten. He told me about the different jobs and how flexible this major was. The only problem I was facing was to choose clinical or management. I figured out then a year later to choose management. I still found myself struggling taking chemistry and biology.

Radiologist Assistants are comparable to a physician’s assistant. Both of these jobs assist doctors in performing advance medicine.
