Being able to leave home for a year may not be a choice for all. There are local Big Brother and Big Sister programs in which the eighteen year old can volunteer. What can be more fulfilling than to be a mentor? Perhaps as a youth the volunteer was a part off the program; drawing from personal
In fact, I have been performing community service since I was very young. In middle school, I was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society, I made my service project the donation of snacks, toiletries, and other items purchased in grocery stores. I would collect supplies, packaged them, and ship them to Marines stationed overseas. This NJHS community service project was inspired by my membership in the Young
My father immigrated from Guatemala when he was 19 to support his family back home. My mother, from El Salvador while fleeing the revolutionary war. They have worked hard, exceptionally hard, for me not to pursuit my dreams of joining the Peace Corps. This is a I considered filling out an application to join the Peace Corps straight after college but glad I waited. I have gained experience, but more importantly, I have matured mentally and emotionally and I am capable of understanding what it would require of me to leave my family, home, and career for two years and I am ready.
During world war II people’s lives changed in America it was hard for most men and women to provide imperative supplies for their families. American citizens had to do a lot of volunteer work because the government told them that it was for the nations wealth but really it was for the government. It was a hard time for Americans you couldn 't use cars, vacuums, and kitchen appliances until the war ended, and women didn 't have the rights to get a job and most men were sent overseas to fight in the war. Many women did volunteer work as in nursing the wounded soldiers who were in battle against the Nazis, Japanese, and Italians. There was a lot of racialism in America during that time period segregation was a big issue

Often in life, we come across situations that may stretch us and challenge us, finding ourselves forced to get out of our comfort zone. Volunteering is definitely not for everyone, people may not have the adequate time, confidence, knowledge. But that does not mean you avoid the situation at all times, you must allow yourself to step out of your comfort zone and experience things that you would never think about doing. On the first week of volunteering it was a bit intense for me, as I found it difficult and little bit sad to watch the women living the way they do, for some reason I felt that they were always missing their children and grandchildren. Some of the residents did not even have family so they never got visitations.
My family has always encouraged me to become great and a better person, and volunteering really fits into my life. As I
Volunteering should be done intrinsically. Many students find community service so difficult, time consuming, and not enjoyable. Therefore, they tend to only complete the required hours without any essential effort. To call mandatory community service 'volunteering ' is a problem because then we begin to confuse the distinction between an activity that is willingly done and something that is obligatory and perhaps not always rewarding. Volunteering should be something you choose to do because you want to do it, not because somebody made you do it.
People do community service to give back to the community, but what if one grew up to be a good giving back civilian? If one started volunteering at a young age will it benefit him when he grows up? Should he/her start giving back at a young age? Will it be worth it for the community and what influence would it give? These questions should be taken into consideration when the parents rise up their child.

For one week every summer, the senior high youth at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Roseville drop everything to venture somewhere in the United States on a service learning trip. Since I happen to attend that church, and I just so happen to be a senior high youth, I have joined these trips for three years running. Usually, we help out in soup kitchens, do some yard work, or visit homeless shelters. However, our trip during the summer of my junior year was destined to be different from the very beginning.

It 's a hot a sunny day and also the first day of high school for 14 year old Audrey Wells. She walks past the local soup kitchen and sees volunteers inside laughing and having fun, wishing she had something like that she continued on her walk to school. As she enters her class her teacher says that he requires 10 community service hours per quarter to get a passing grade. He also says that there are many benefits to community service such as, getting teens out of their homes, giving adolescence a feel of the real world and, and providing students with chances to meet people outside of school that would get to personally know us. In the future all these things will be very beneficial to these students everyday lives.
Volunteering is when you freely offer to do something without pay. In a person’s life, they have at least participated in community service one time. Whether it be working the concession stand at a ball game, picking up the mail for an elder, or even babysitting. For some people, volunteering helps them feel like they play an essential role while they are giving back to their community. Although volunteering is purely an act of kindness, it can also be very helpful in some people’s lives, such as making them feel like they are the difference makers.
Volunteering is a way of helping others. It is giving a person 's time and ability to help someone who may be in need of help. Not only does volunteering help others, but what they may not know is that it can be helpful to themselves. It is a great way for someone to interact with others in their community. It gives someone that time to themselves while also creating bonds when they are doing the greater good.
