A career is not just a job, it becomes an occupation you admire doing when waking up every morning. I am in a Bachelor’s of Science in nursing program to become a registered nurse. After I receive my RN, I want to proceed my career in being a Pediatric Nurse. My goal on becoming a pediatric nurse is to help save lives and form my career into my passion. Why do most people want to become a pediatric nurse? Being a part of a medical staff that helps and improves children’s lives and make an impact on the world.

A pediatric nurse is a registered nurse who specializes in care for children. Nurses are required to earn their registered nurse licenses from an associate or bachelor’s degree program. After receiving a degree in either program, you are required to pass the NCLEX. NCLEX is the National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses. There are not any certifications or licensing requirements to work in this field. However, all nurse should obtain CPN training and credentials offered from the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. At least 1,800 hours of pediatric clinical experience requirement within a year since you have received your licenses. The first trait is empathy. Empathy is the utmost important trait of all five. It is all about having sympathetic and warm-hearted towards the families. The following trait is communication. It is very important to have the ability to communicate effectively. The fourth trait is endurance. Working in pediatrics, it becomes difficult. When you are working long hours, dealing with mentality and physically emotions gets difficult. Emotional Stability continues through the five traits. During your career, you will come across some events that you could possibly not handle. It is important to remain strong. You cannot let your guard down every single time something happens that is out your hands. Remain stable and perform, as you know how. Lastly, the final trait is dedication. Dedication is the time and patient that you put into your career. A true dedication is going the extra mile. You do not treat it like just another job it is your career. I learned that I am perfect for this job. I have the power and stability to manage a career as I am reaching for. Becoming a pediatric nurse is not easy but it shall be very satisfying. It is not all about working and staying in one spot, you move around into different locations. Every day when you wake up, your goal is to save a life.
