When I entered high school as a freshman, I had no idea what to expect. I was completely unaware of the challenges that awaited and the new ideas it would illume. As high school progressed, I was gradually exposed to this through a variety of classes and experiences. This has given me the opportunity to develop a set of skills to succeed in pursuing my hopes for the future. Early on in high school, I discovered what I wanted to do in life. Freshman year, I was inspired by my business teacher who provoked my curiosity in how the world works while developing an interest in the field of business. What fascinated me about his class was how humans interacted in a complex, global society. This captivation motivated me to take a variety of courses
High school is one of the greatest pivotal times in a human's life. It is where young adults are able to form their own opinions on the world, find activities they are passionate about, and learn to create fruitful relationships with their peers and teachers. However, I did not initially view high school as a period of time for growth and development. Instead, I saw it simply as another task to complete before I entered the real world. I did not take advantage of all the opportunities around me and I began to find school to be institutionalized or meaningless.
High school has impacted my life in so many ways. High School taught me so many things, from personal relationships to creating a relationship with my education. As a freshman, I made a huge amount of mistakes and I regret doing foolish things, but I’ve realized, I was only maturing into the young adult I am today. Freshman year, I was out of focus and I was only trying to find myself. I would also prioritize other things and ignore my parent’s advice, where they would tell me to focus in school and give it my full attention.
I believe that I have learned many useful lessons this semester. At the start of this semester I honestly did not know how to write a proper essay. There were several big problems with my writing style. My poor grammar and lack-luster writing skills were a real problem. I feel more confident now that I have written some decent papers and come close to completing my first English class.
Spending the day with the IV team went great. I spent most of the clinical day with Michelle Denton as my teacher. She is very meticulous and likes things her way, but she was an amazing preceptor to learn from. Throughout the day I am pretty sure I walked every hall in the KU hospital. I honestly didn’t know how big that facility was before yesterday and I am seriously still amazed.
Have you ever thought about going through time and rewrite the wrong you did at some point? Was it because you failed that math test or you messed up with your high school crush? Or did you simply do something so wrong that you ended up burning that bridge of trust. Say you do go back in time and alter that specific event. Would everything go back to the way it was.
I have learned so much about writing in the last few months. I have gained confidence in my writing because of the many peer reviews and working drafts. One of my goals is to never settle for “okay”, to keep striving to be better. Once I am happy with how I did in something, I tend to become complacent. I do not want that to happen in my essays.
High school has been my most extraordinary experience, it has helped transform me into the person that I am today. Of course high school hasn’t been the easiest four years of my life but it has been the most educational. Nonetheless it has had its highs and lows and countless complicated and confusing experiences in between but the only thing you can do in a time like that is learn from your experiences and if you mess up along the way then learn from your mistakes but most of all you have to keep pushing forward and learn not to give up on something you may fear because you can’t understand it at the time. Throughout high school I have learned a tremendous amount academically but at the same time I’ve learned so much about myself as an individual.
The first half of this semester was swift and I can’t believe how fast it passed by. College is a whole new world for me that I had never imagined with a lot of new experiences that I hope will shift me into a better and smarter person. There are more things I can do in college that I would have never dared to do in high school and I am happy for these new freedoms. I am able to eat in class, leave class without asking and they don’t care if I pay attention or not. My high school teachers would always tell me to wait for the bell, sometimes would not let me leave and if I did not pay attention they would yell.
Throughout my time in high school, I have been actively involved in various leadership roles within my troupe. This leadership has not been limited to the acting side of the spectrum, but has included both advocacy work and techie work. My freshman year was a year for learning. During this year I began to learn how to build and become a true actor. Looking up to the seniors, they taught me how to properly use a saw and how to explore every inch of the stage.
The classes i am doing well in are Math PE and Biology. I am doing well in Math because its my favorite subject that i actually enjoy doing because its interesting for me. In order to continue to do well in that class i need to continue to pay attention and do my work like i am now in some classes. I am using the habit of just paying attention to do better. The classes i need to do better in are English and Cultural Geography.
Whenever I was in the eighth grade I was put into a few classes with a teacher I knew that I was not going to like. The first day of school I walked the dreadful walk to her classroom after science class and knew that Mrs. Jackson was going to be horrible. I was never really the student who had to study throughout middle school, so whenever I was put into Honors English, I just knew that I had set myself up for failure. Mrs. Jackson was one of those teachers who loved her job, you could see it in the way she smiled, she loved the way that a book could change someones
My ultimate educational goal is to graduate from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, with a degree in business administration. Although this sounds relatively simple, I know that there is a great deal of effort that goes into such a feat. Student loans are sometimes considered an “investment for your education”, but I am determined to complete my college degree without accumulating debt. I consider student loans to be just another tool for debt, which is not beneficial to me in any way.
In my four years of highschool I have had many different events happen that have slowly helped me grow and mature. Many of these events were accomplishments and many were mistakes but I would always use them to my advantage and learn from them. Some of the mistakes weren’t even mine but I would see the event happen and see the consequences of it
I knew that not focusing on my school work would come to bite me back one day. I just did not know when. Getting this report card was a warning to me - it made me realize how fortunate I was to receive an education. I was hardly the ordinary typical 7th grader down the road. If I did not start staying on top of my work, I would not lead the future I wanted.
Prompt Two People will tell you that senior year will fly by, and that it’ll be gone before you know it. They’ll say that it’s a glorious time full of friendship and comradery, and that you’re supposed to enjoy it. Meanwhile, you’ve got the ACT, extracurriculars, a meager hope for a social life, and the ever-present threat of school on your doorstep. At first, one might wonder why people consider it different from the first three years.
