Curfews Curfews are regulations that require people to remain indoors between specified hours, specifically at night. Many people believe that curfews aren't very effective for a teenage kid, and they think that curfews can make teenagers sneak out behind their parent’s back and cause them to be in trouble. However, Curfews should be taken very seriously and they should be imposed by parents on their teenage children. Curfews are very important; they keep teenagers out of trouble and teaches them responsibility and respect. Parents usually set a curfew for their teenage children, in order to keep them safe and protected One reason that parents should set a curfew for their teenage kids is to keep them safe and protected. Parents have a responsibility to their children both morally and legally to keep them safe and secured. Often, it is not the behavior of teenagers that is of concern, but the behaviors of other people around them that may affect them. Parents should know where their teenage kid is incase of emergency. Teenagers are often unaware of the dangers that the world holds, which makes them vulnerable and inexperienced. In a world where crime is committed every minute of they …show more content…
people think that curfews are not effective; it makes teenagers sneak out behind their parent’s back and it leads them to believe that their parents do not trust them. For example, if the parents were strict and set a curfew at 10 P.M., teenagers might rebel and might plan to hang out with their friends and sneak out behind their parent’s backs. Also, people think that curfews limit the freedom of teenagers, and it restricts them from many opportunities However, Curfews provides safety and security for teenagers and it protects them from any criminal act done at later hours of the day. Furthermore, Curfews are important to make teenagers responsible and respectful towards their
Why do so many teenagers stay up so late knowing they have to get up so early in the morning? High schools all around the country have noticed that students appreciate when schools start no earlier than 8:00 am. In my perspective, if school starts so early it can affect students’ grades and if they're tardy. So let's make a change and help our society and students by starting school later in the day. You have to admit school starts way too early for students .
“Letting teenagers sleep later typically means an earlier start for elementary schools, and sets off a cascade of adjustments. Teachers have to change their schedules, times shift for after-school activities and jobs, and older siblings who sit younger ones might no longer get home first” (Source 2). Also, students who participate in sports and extra-curricular activities would also get home much later in the evenings due to later school scheduling. This could even cause problems for parents and teachers.
Teen could start school times later to improve their health, and live longer. If schools don’t take action know they will be the cause of why adolescents experience permanent damage. Therefore, more the ricks teen are taking of sleep deprives is depression, obesity, bad grades, etc, school need to take action NOW. If school are going to take action there decisions will be the best because it’s going to benefit students health in many way. They will re-store any information they learned during the day, it will also build muscle and bone while if they don’t sleep they will not learn anything or have strong muscles and bones.
“Its up to parents to choose a curfew.” Annually, some parents dont know when to make their childs curfew. They want to limit their kids time in the outside world, but dont want to limit them to much. Once a child hits the teen years they think their parents ae cluless and can not help them anymore. “Were you, Ponyboy?"--- his voice was rising---
Many believe that schools should start later because teens are being sleep deprived due to waking up too early. Research corroborates that teenagers ' biological clocks don 't get sleepy until later in the night, and the late sleeping times and the early waking times are causing teens to not get enough sleep which is deleterious to their health. However, if the time were to change to later school start times, it causes a financial problem. It costs millions of dollars to buy more buses, and people rather not use the money on school buses when it could finance another field. Some kids also don 't want later school times, saying it interferes with "after-school jobs, athletics, or other extracurricular activities.
Last but no least, many students that drive in high school are likely to be out at night driving and if they are tired and sleep deprived, then they are more likely to crash their car from drifting off the road. It is hard for parents to hear about teens getting in accidents and all we hear about is the ones that parents can do something about and that is alcohol related accidents. But parents, you can do something about lack of sleep. You can vote and make teens start school later at Park City High School.
Curfews will have kids inside before all the trouble usually starts to occur. “Curfews lower the number of teens involved in crimes”. Also, “ Experts credit public curfews for the drop in crime”. All the bad things that kids are involved in happen at night because kids think they can do whatever they want because no one is watching them. When Ponyboy and Johnny were out late, it would help prevent them from killing Bob.
We all know what a curfew is, but the thought of having one is even worse. Many teenagers believe that curfews are not important and also think that they do not need them. Although the government and some parents do believe in curfews. The main reason why they want curfews is because
Numerous court cases have taken on the issue of teen curfews with varying results. A curfew is a law, regulation, or ordinance that forbids particular people or particular classes of people from being outdoors in public places at certain specified times of the
Parents and school staff find it hard having sports practices and activities running later into the evening and or to someone to watch their children. Carskadon, a professor of psychiatry and human behavior notes, “Meanwhile, parents are often reluctant to have teens start later, whether because they rely on having older children at home in the afternoons to take care of younger siblings or because they’re concerned that it will interfere with extracurricular opportunities” (Lewis). After school activity times would be affected if schools started later because it would push back the start and finish times of the practices. This would make students stay up even later to complete their homework and other nightly activities. Yet, school administration could find a way to enable the school start time to be later and have time for sports and extracurricular activities.
Teens were are very relaxed and concentrative when they have had enough sleep which is also very good for their bodies because the brain cells stay alive rather than die because of the lack of sleep that teens are getting. “24 hours without sleep for teens leaves you as an impaired as if you were legally drunk. It also causes brain cells to die” (Hudson). If teens pull an all nighter which is very frequent because they never finish homework at an early hour, it causes their brain cells to die and their bodies to act as if they were drunk. Lastly, school starting later would be robust for teens, and it can save them from all nighters (when their cells start to
Secondly, studies posted by Sara Bellum show that the teenage body slows its melatonin production later in the day than adults and children. Melatonin is a chemical released by the brain that, in short, makes people tired. Therefore, teens are very tired in the mornings, and are more awake in the afternoons. If high schools started later, students could spend more time in school while they were wide awake. A third reason for classes to start later is the physical and mental health of teenagers.
Being that teens are fairly new to driving they do not have much experience, also some teens seem to think their "untouchable" and no harm may come from speeding or reckless driving. In fact, the human brain is not fully developed till the mid 20's, further proving teens do not have as much sense of maturity. Therefore, teens do not fully understand the multitude of reckless driving. Being so, teens would still speed and be as careless as ever or even worse at any given hour of the night. Teens would still have to drive at night though, being the curfew is 10 p.m. and midnight, but it would be better than teens ripping the roads at any hour
More than 3,000 teens die each year in crashes caused by texting and driving. On June 8, a report was released stating that Tennessee bus crash that left two young girls and a teacher 's aide dead last December was the result of texting and driving. James Davenport, the driver of the bus, was found dead in his home on June 1.Why does this have to happen? Preventing texting and driving should be an easy thing but mostly everyone is anxiously waiting for a text message from there dearest friend or loved one that we forget about our safety. That’s why we should start implementing laws for safety so these staggering rates can go down.
Early School Start Times Most adolescents don’t get nearly the correct amount of sleep and the early school start times make it worse. Having school start later would have a great impact on teens’ overall health. Some people may say that teens should just go to sleep earlier, but its not that easy. Early school start times should be changed because they are dangerous, inconvenient, and it negatively affects body growth.
