It is extremely important that all generations know what the Holocaust was and what happened during this time to make sure it never happens again. Elie Wiesel’s purpose for writing his memoir, Night, was to inform readers and provide them with knowledge of the Holocaust and his experiences. In the article, “Save Auschwitz or Leave it to Rot?”, Bogoslav Sicinska said, “ ‘I believe this place should be handed down from generation to generation, so that in the future no nation-I would stress, no nation-should ever repeat this’ ” (Gizbert). Also in the article, “Preserving the Ghastly Inventory of Auschwitz”, it states, “ ‘We are doing something against the initial idea of the Nazis who built this camp…They didn’t want it to last. We’re making it last’ ” (Donadio). This quote is important because it indicates that survivors ultimately had some feeling of victory. For the amount of suffering they went through and the horrific acts that happened, it is important that the Holocaust never happens again in the future. Concentration camps educate people of the horrible past, and it is important to learn from them, however, some people feel that concentration camps should be
Why is it important to remember the Holocaust? That is the question we ask, but if you think about it, why wouldn’t the Holocaust be something to forget. Here are three main points to remember: Why it happened, the consequences of the act, and when/how we can learn and prevent something on this scale from happening again. 1993, Nazi Germany. He witnessed a traumatizing event at the age of 15 and wrote a book on his experience. The Holocaust killed six million innocent Jews and five million Gentile people. Unfortunately, Wiesel saw and experienced everything from torture, starvation, and death while being held in the concentration camps. Experiencing this trauma altered Elie's spiritual views and his relationship with his father.
When the concentration camps were found, stories began to flood from them and the tales of the survivors were used to help understand the events that had occurred. According to the text, “Should Auschwitz be left the decay” the author states, “It might be that... the best way to honour those who were murdered in the camp and those who survived is by sealing it from the world.” The presence of the camps, however, is not to torture individuals of the society, yet is there to enlighten future generations of the tragedy that occurred in the period of 1933-1945, that being the Holocaust. The people that suffered during the Holocaust perhaps lacked knowledge that could have prevented a mass extermination. Some may argue for all the remains to be buried and sealed away from the world because they feel as though it is taking a burden on individuals, especially the family of those who were victims of the Holocaust.

After the events of the second world war the population of Jews around the world was less than four millions. Among the very few people that survived the concentration/elimination camps Eliezer Wiesel was among them. While many people wanted to forget and never talk about the events of the second world war, Wiesel wants the whole world to know what atrocities the Nazis put the Jews through. So in the novel Night by Eliezer Wiesel, the author demonstrates the destruction caused by the Nazis in the Holocaust through the themes of family, faith and strength.

On the other hand, if this situation is left undone, people will feel like nobody cares about what had happened and criminals are just left to live their lives. There will be many displeased people who just want to get justice for their forebearers or even for themselves. While it had been so long that the Holocaust occurred, it is only right that it is all left done and finalized.
The Holocaust is a great lesson for the entire world to learn from, and particularly a lesson for the next generation to learn from the mistakes of the past and make sure that they are never repeated again (Why teach The Holocaust?). The Holocaust should be taught to students in schools because it presents decisions that, in the future, may need to be made or even ones that should not have been made, it allows students to see how history could repeat itself, and it instills a sense of appreciation for the freedoms and inclusiveness that we have in our time.
This was such a tragic time in history and we should all be thankful that our world isn 't like this. The Concentration Camps were made because Hitler hated the jews and wanted to kill all and they were kind of brainwashing them to tell them it is a wonderful place to live. When they were making the camps the Nazis would go around just shooting people for no reason. So Hitler and the Nazis captured the majority of the Jews and put them into these camps saying they should be here and that they deserve to died and it is all their fault.
