1. Metaphysics deals with the nature of reality regarding to what exists and what the characteristics of reality actually are. Metaphysics is the study of how things actually are in contrast to how they appear to be.
Epistemology is the area of philosophy that is concerned with knowledge. The main concerns of epistemology are the definition of knowledge, the sources of knowledge, the process of acquiring knowledge and the limits of knowledge.

Ryle explains that there is no concealed entity called the mind inside the body. The nature of the mind is not an independent system that is in control of the body. The nature of the mind is not separate from the activity of the body; it is a way of explaining the actions of the body instead. Ryle criticizes the theory that the mind is a place where mental images are comprehended, perceived, or remembered. 2. Armstrong argues that the mind and body are united. He describes behaviorism and Rylean behaviorism. He accepts that the mind is reasonably restricted to behavior yet refuting the idea that the mind is behavior. He claims that the nature of the mind is the inner foundation of behavior and these are neural states and processes according to neuroscience.
