Broken bones or raging fevers,The two jobs that I chose to further gain knowledge of is a physician assistant and a physical therapist. As I was doing my research I wanted to see the extent of requirements that each occupation requires while seeing overall which job sounds more appealing to me. As of right now I am leading towards the physician assistant job as I have always been interested more of the prescription medicine side of things. In the future I have to decide whether or not I want to more personally in to the range of motions of people who have been injured, or look in to a more personal connection with the medicine side of things. Since the mid 1970s, MAPA has been an important advocator for its members and has not only worked on the improvement of working environments for physician assistants but is also involved in politicizing for enhancements in the scope of practice as well as raising a voice on actions that may impose a threat on the Physician Assistant occupation. At the turn of the century, the ‘Barriers to PA Practice’ list was created by MAPA in order to “overturn all of the antiquated laws disallowing PAs to practice in aspects of care or allowing negative interpretation by administrators of health plans and State agencies” 3. Since this list was created, many new public acts have been passed allowing physician assistants in Michigan to gain more independence. Physician assistants work under the supervision of a physician. The service provided by a PA is contingent upon their education, experience, the state laws, facility policies and the needs of the patients at the practice. The standards which defines the service that PAs provide allow for faster, effective and specialized health care. Physician Assistants are licensed to obtain patient medical histories, conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret test, develop treatment plans, assist in surgery, write prescriptions for controlled substances, and educate and counsel patients.
I admire the mission statement of the PAS program, as I am a firm believer in providing excellent care to all populations. A Physician Assistant, as well as any other medical professional, should provide compassionate care to those needing it, despite their financial status, race, disabilities, and more. As a future PA, I want to advocate for all populations and let their voices be heard, inside and outside of the walls of medicine. One reason I am compassionate about advocating for my patients is because I understand what it is like to be in their shoes.
The Physical Therapist Assistant is an amazing career I will like to go in because I’ll be helping everyone. I have the skill sets to become a great one because I hate seeing people sad and injure, and I’m ambitions on what I’m doing. The job offers great pay, benefits, job opportunities, and can move up to physical therapist. I’m already working for the Miami Heat and one day I will like to work for the basketball team. I love basketball, so working for the basketball team will be a great fit for me and a life time goal.
Aside from being knowledgeable in the field, Pathologists ' Assistants should also be flexible, amicable, communicate effectively, and possess time management skills. An important characteristic I noticed when observing the Pathologists ' Assistants was the amount of reasonability and trust they must gain from the Pathologists '. A patient 's diagnosis and course of treatment rely solely on the Pathologists ' Assistants ability to apply their knowledge and resources efficiently to sample appropriate areas of the given tissue. All in all, I admire the field as a whole but respect the role of a Pathologists ' Assistants because of their ability to tackle multiple tasks all at once, comply with the different demands from several Pathologists ', and remain poised under pressure. It is an honor to be able to work side-by-side with healthcare providers that go above and beyond to ensure quality service to their patients.

Medical Assistants are there to help patients reach their needs. A medical assistant understands the need for effective communication and applies it in their field of work. They know the importance of knowing how to read the non-verbal messages patients make and respond to the needs they express. These include gestures and facial expressions (Bonewit-West, K. 2009). Knowing effective communications skill help the Medical assistant to observe with close attention to the patient and their needs.
I want to become a Medical Assistant because I enjoy helping others, and making them feel better. Medical Assistant is not just a career for me, it’s a goal that I will achieve with much pride and honor, and prove wrong those people who keep telling me that I’m not going to make it. I’m not really good in science, but I’m going to push myself to try hard to achieve my goal. Don’t ever let anyone label you, be your own kind of person and make the “impossible” possible. I know that it’s not going to be easy because of all the things you have to learn and memorize to become a Medical Assistant.

It is also the responsibility of the physician assistants to examine patients, as would a doctor, in order to obtain information about a patients’ physical condition. In some hospitals physician assistants could find themselves practicing medicine on teams with other physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare workers. They would examine, diagnose and treat a multitude of patients from a broad range of backgrounds.
After researching and thoroughly exploring the profession of physician assistant, I would still seriously consider becoming one. Even though there is little room for advancement beyond straying onto another career path, it seems like a very secure, appropriately salaried, interesting, and rewarding position in the medical field.
