In chapter two Sandra Harding describes four elements that help in constructing a standpoint. Physical location, interest, access to discourse, and, social organization of knowledge production. These elements are a factor in why people have different or similar standpoints on certain topics because location, experiences, race, class, and where people obtain their knowledge from help formulate their opinions. Scholars believe that standpoint is a point of view because it is “ something that individuals or groups think or say, often based on their identity or personal beliefs”.
