Psychopathic Personality Inventory-Revised Developed by Lilenfeld and Widows he Psychopathic Personality Inventory was designed to provide psychologists with a timely test, which identified psychopathic personality traits (Leung, 2014). The traits assessed are not in relation to criminal or antisocial behaviors. The factors assessed are cold-heartedness, fearless dominance, and impulsive anti-sociality (Leung, 2014). The Psychopathic Personality Inventory-Revised is a shorter version of the original PPI. The following is a brief review of the PPI-R Test Purpose and Procedures The PPI-R is designed at a fourth-grade reading level, which allows the test to be administered in several settings such as forensic or clinical. The PPI-Revised was shortened and designed to reduce cultural idioms along with reading levels (Edens and McDermott, 2010). There are 154 items along with 8 content scales which formulate the PPI-R raw score (Leung, 2014). Only qualified professionals should interpret the findings of each test. According to research in the (2014) Leung article, the construct of the test did match up with the 2002 United States census. The internal consistency was very high on all scales except for the four validity scales (Leung, 2014). This suggests that the test may not be measuring consistent themes. The PPI-R remains a valuable tool used in both counseling and research (Leung, 2014). The findings of the 2013 article "Examining the Necessity for and Utility of the Psychopathic Personality Inventory-Revised (PPI-R) Validity Scales," by Anderson, Sellnorn, Wygant, and Edens, provided evidence for the utility, and need of the PPI-R.
