The reason why the constitution is so lengthy is because of having over 400 amendments added to the constitution. However, these amendments keep the Texas Constitution up to date, and able to for the years that follow. These amendments maintain the purpose of power, government authority, and the expression of political philosophy of: the less government, the better. However, even though the voter turnout is low among amendments, Texas citizens still have the right vote from the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights provides more protection among Texans than the United States Constitution. For an increase in voter turnout, Texas would need to become a compulsory voting state, which enables the government to make voting a law, and to punish those who do not follow.
