“You are the district attorney. Write the speech you will deliver asking for the death penalty. Cite specifically despicable aspects of the crime that warrant the punishment you chose”.
Essay “In Cold Blood”
Perry Smith, and Dick(Richard) Hickock, should be sentenced to death.
The crimes that they committed should not go unseen, they have murdered the Clutter family, “In Cold blood”. These two men, have struck fear in the Kansan people. What these men have done is dishonorable, and disgraceful, we wouldn’t let anyone get away with this crime. Even if they are mentally ill, psychopathic even, gives no right to murder a family. Even a rough childhood, which Perry all has, dosen’t give a right to kill. This is why they should be put to the

I thought he was a very nice gentleman. Soft-spoken. I thought so right up to the moment I cut his throat."PG192 At the door, Smith said to Hickock,."No chicken-hearted jurors, they!" They both laughed loudly, and a cameraman photographed them. The picture appeared in a Kansas paper above a caption entitled:"The Last Laugh?"PG194. These two men, think it’s funny, of what they did, the crime they committed. The very minimum they should get is death. “Perry thinks that what they did was an abnormal act, and to that he be right,When Perry said, "I think there must be something wrong with us,"PG64 he was making an admission he "hated to make." Dick thinks he shouldn’t get as bad as a punishment as Perry, he say’s, “i didn’t touch a hair on a human's head that night”, but didn’t try to stop Perry, and the gun was his to begin with. If they were just going to rob the Clutter family, why did they have to bring a shotgun. The towns people are being dishonest with themselves, only choosing to believe what they want about the death penalty. They say,“Yeah, and how about hanging the bastard,? That’s pretty cold blooded too,” PG194, and to that i have to say, so we are just going to let some killers free because the act we are trying to pursue is cold blooded, i think the deserve it for killing an entire family cold blooded, that did nothing wrong to them, and they laughed about it. In Spite of what some think, their are still many that believe they should get punished/ even die for what they had done, and I stand with them. One that i am familiar with is, Alvin Dewey, he want’s to see them punished for what they had done to the Clutter family, he was a detective on this case. If we are not giving them the death penalty, what should we give them, if you want them to just rot in prison, that is still technically a death sentence. NO matter how it is looked at, it is still a bad situation, this is why i think they should be put to the death sentence, and hung for what they have
