Martin luther king wrote, “I have a dream” Which is the most compelling. This speech has a wide variety of rhetorical devices. The central idea of i have a dream it to persuade everyone to work together and be friends. In the speech “I have a dream” Martin luther king says, “The emancipation proclamation said that everyone is going to be equal, which is not true” This shows that he thinks that everyone should be equal. This statement is not true because black people are still not free they still are said to be slaves. He also shows this when he said, “But 100 years later, the negro still is not free.” (king) Some devices that martin luther king uses is allusion, pace, and Vocab. He uses Allusions when he talked about the emancipation proclamation. He also uses pace in his speech because he does not really talk really fast he talks slower so that everyone can process what he is saying. The last rhetorical device he uses is Vocab he uses this when he says, “ Now to make is the time to make real the promises of democracy.” He uses this because he wants to show people that black people are smart and can be if they want to be. …show more content…

This was my main idea because he was saying that he did not want black people fighting with white people. We should always fight together, “we can not walk alone” (king) Some of the rhetorical devices that martin luther king uses is Paragraph structure, figurative language, and tone. He used paragraph structure when it said, “we can not turn back now.” (king) This shows paragraph structure because after that it was a big paragraph.
