The Roaring Twenties was the beginning of a new and improved America.The impact of this new evolution was being welcomed by many who were ready for change. Poor families began to have a sense of how wealthy people were living. New creations spreading around were causing more individuals to come up with their own. Before this event took place each individual's life would consist of working out in the farm, families using horses or carriages to drive along, women staying home doing chores and creating clothing for their family. While reading this, I was surprised to learn that during the Roaring Twenties, baseball became a popular sport. At the end of WWI, there was a new lifestyle for Americans. They began to enjoy themselves and we saw many social, political, and economic changes. Also during this time alcohol became really popular. Efforts to stop alcohol consumption were attempted.
The first half of the 1900s was a rollercoaster to say the least. Prior to and during the 20th century, an enormous growth in industry occurred, with huge companies working to mass produce an ever-increasing amount of goods on a previously unimaginable scale. This time of growth and prosperity, at least for some people, lead to what is now known as the roaring 20s. The twenties are embodied by the pop culture of the time, with swingers (that eras version of clubbers) going to recreational events in automobiles in the latest fashion. Technological and cultural advances were quickly transforming the United States from a collection of somewhat disconnected regions, to a highly interconnected modern nation.
The 1920s, known as the Roaring Twenties, was a time of economic distinction for the United States. An average of 95% of the population had jobs, giving them the freedom to own homes and cars with enough money leftover to enjoy a ballgame or a movie. Factories were in full swing, using the assembly line to produce goods at an all time high for a price lower than ever. However, the economic boom came to a halt. Factories began producing more than people were buying, creating an overproduction of goods.
The Roaring Twenties Our country went though many forceful changes during the Great War or World War 1 as it was later called. Many people today are uninformed about the prosperity of our country during World War 1 and the “Roaring Twenties”. The Roaring 20s, the era following World War I, was a time of free-living enjoyment as the money was superfluous and the people were ready to forget the devastation of the war by living exuberantly. Unfortunately, before this time of free-living enjoyment and fun, our country had to go through war and change.
The Roaring Twenties The 1920’s were an era of time that people struggled in. It had ups, and it definitely had downs. This was an age of social change, and it consisted of many ideas and events. Many refer to this decade as the “Roaring Twenties”.
There is no time in history quite like the “Roaring Twenties”. World War I had just ended, affecting every aspect of the daily lives of the American people. With the war ceasing to continue, the culture of the country changed completely, as people began to shift their focus to having a good time. For entertainment, people would go to the theatre, the movies, sports stadiums, and clubs where couples could dance the night away (Alchin). The 19th amendment, which was passed in the decade, gave the women the right to vote.
The 1920’s in America is often considered as “The Roaring Twenties. World War I was over, women got suffrage, fashion changed immensely, prohibition was put into place, and jazz filled the air. The Roaring ‘20s was a decade of play and prosperity. Unemployment was low and Americans were better off financially. After World War I, America wanted to return to normal.

The Roaring Twenties had its ups and downs. During this time period, consumerism skyrocketed and many people felt free. Women were breaking the “standards'', African American singers and their culture were being seen by others, and Prohibition was causing problems. For instance, since people were not allowed to drink or use alcohol, this caused people to use and sell alcohol illegally. Crime rates rose and gangs formed.

Harding had coined the term ‘a return to normalcy’, which was a nostalgic vision of American society with traditional values and roles, and was widely accepted and eagerly embraced by the population. It was during this time that America experienced “The Roaring Twenties”, an outstanding period of prosperity. There was also a significant shift from an agrarian society to an industrial society, which as a result, caused tremendous tension between traditionalists and modernists.
The Roaring 20s brought a lot of daily excitement and change as United States saw new developments in industry. The stock market was high and all seemed well. America was changing drastically in a good way but little did they know one event would change millions of lives for the worse.
