Cowboys roamed the plains gathering, chasing and branding cattle. They did all this with a rope in their hand or around a set of cow’s horns. Eventually cowboys wanted to test their skills against neighboring cowboys and that is how rodeos were born.

Theme essay Squeaky from the story “Raymond's Run” really wants something; but she doesn’t clearly state that in the story. When you first read the story you might think she wants her brother to be treated normally or that she wants to be faster than everyone. However, when you look deeper into the story you will really see that Squeaky just wants to be liked and have friends. In “All American Slurp” the narrator named Lin wants the same thing because she moved to America from China, with her family. Lin wants to make friends and attempts this by blending in and trying new things.

The passage, “Always Running” by Luis J. Rodriguez evokes the tone of indifference. Rodriguez demonstrates these tones through imagery. For example, at the beginning of the passage the narrator, Luis gives us background information about his living situation to set up imagery for the rest of the passage. Then, Luis sets the tone of indifference with this sentence “So without ceremony, we started over the tracks, climbing over discarded market carts and tore-up sofas.” This quote uses the literary device of imagery because the narrator is painting a picture of their environment.

In this existentialist novel, the anonymous narrator is a black young man who has been molded into naive humanism. He believes that each individual: black, white or yellow holds his/her place in the societal shackles of his/her country for that little, he/she makes proof of attendance, hard work and a certain deference to the White Man. From here, it is soon realized that the narrator is the Invisible Man: the Black Man, supposedly free from slavery eighty years earlier by the American settler. However, the reality is different, complex and camouflaged.

Yanagi, one of the most patient male characters I have ever seen. When Yanagi was young, he was known to be the "Prince" of his school. He thought of himself as the King of his world. He excels at almot everything and is the target of the female population 's admiration, much to the disdain of some boys. When Kujou(the lead female character) transferred to his school, Yanagi considered her his rival because she excels and competes with him in almost everything he does.
