Selena Quintanilla Biography

Selena Quintanilla Pérez was a very talented young woman who was murdered by her fan club president and manager, Yolanda Saldívar. She loved performing, and she loved her fans. She encouraged kids to stay in school and avoid drugs and alcohol. She had a major impact on the Latin community, and her death was devastating to everyone. Selena 's childhood was just that, a childhood with a few bad moments. She has an older brother and an older sister, she was the youngest of the three born to Abraham and Marcella Quintanilla. Her first performance was at the family restaurant, Papa Gayos with the band name Selena y los dinos (Selena and the guys). Her parents put their house up for sale, they lost the restaurant, and the family moved to Corpus Christi Texas. There, Selena recorded her first album, Mis Primeras Grabaciones (My first recordings). In her band, A.B., her brother, played bass and eventually wrote and composed most of her music. Her sister, Suzette, played drums. They combined Colombian cumbia, R.B. Music, and pop or rock to gain them fans all over the world.

One evening, Selena and her father noticed some missing money, and they traced it to her. Yolanda tried to prove it wasn 't her stealing the money, but she was mentally unstable and pulled a gun on Selena. Yolanda called Selena one morning claiming she had been raped, and if she would take her to the hospital. Selena was waiting on paperwork from her, so she agreed and went. The doctors found nothing. Selena drove Yolanda home, to the Corpus Christi motel. When they were entering the building, Yolanda turned around and pulled out a gun of her purse. She shout Selena in the shoulder, and Selena ran around the building to the office. Before she passed out, she identified Yolanda Saldívar as her shooter.
