Shadowing was a great opportunity for me. It provides students a general overview about a certain career such as working conditions and nature of work. On the 14th of November, I shadowed Dr. Azhar Bustami, a dentist on 10043 E Adamo Dr, Tampa, FL 33619. Dr. Azhar was very welcoming and supportive. She tried her best with explaining the advantages and disadvantages of working as a dentist. I shadowed her for almost three hours. About one hour was spent on conversations about the dentistry and preparing the clinic for the coming patient, one hour for treating the patient and about another hour for responding to my comments and questions. At the time of the appointment, it was time to observe a cleaning process of the teeth cleaning called prophylaxis which is basically thorough cleaning of the teach using different tool and techniques. Before Dr.Azhar started working on the patient , she asked me to write down any …show more content…
Prophylaxis was completely done in almost 45 minutes. After cleaning the patients’s teeth, Dr.Azhar clearly answered all my questions including: When should one use prophylaxis? Is it an easy process to undergo as dentist? etc. At the beginning, I tried looking for many physicians but most of them did not have free time for shadowing, some did not match my schedule and others were very far from USF. So I was left with no choice other than shadowing Dr.Azhar because the clinic was not very far, responded immediately to my call, and arranged an appointment shortly. I did not like the clinic itself because it was sort of old and the decorations were not good. However, the room were treating patients takes place was much better as it was well organized and decorated. I liked the working
The best thing for patients at the time was the calm relaxing atmosphere. She spoke highly of the workers and food at the hospital. The
According to the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry, these assignments are unauthorized by a Dental Hygienist and a dentist may not delegate these duties to a dental hygienist. These tasks should be performed only by a licensed dentist. Furthermore, at the end of the visit you were absent, thus failed to discuss relevant information related to the treatment or plan of care. I have left your office with a treatment plan and you ultimately failed to ensure that I understood the dental
I have shadowed Dr. Denis Cesar and Dr. Benny Wright. Dr. Cesar is an allopathic physician specializing in urology and Dr. Wright is an osteopathic physician specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology. I spent 22 hours shadowing Dr. Cesar as he rounded on patients at Merced Urology Medical Group Merced. I shadowed Dr. Wright for 10 hours at Infinite Women’s Care. Both were in clinical settings.
She listened to my concern and addressed every one of them. Being a medical professional, I am very critical of the medical care I receive and I was over 100% satisfied with my experience. Her care and bedside manner are fantastic. I highly recommend.
Someday I might become a dental hygienist because they make a lot of money. Along with, educating patients about the importance of oral health. In a general dentist’s office the dental hygienist plays an important role, such as educating patients on the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene and preventive oral care. These practices include, brush and floss their teeth correctly, select the correct type of toothbrush for their teeth. They also inform patients on how to maintain a good diet to improve their dental and gum health.
Dental practitioners are still a simple target. From motion pictures and TV, to magazines and books, dental specialists are every now and again depicted as either characteristically savage or covetous and unscrupulous. Shockingly, these dental records are regularly characteristically uneven and distort the actualities. The most recent inductee to the hit parade is James Frey's top of the line book 'A Million Little Pieces.' Although as of late on the Oprah Winfrey Show, Frey was compelled to admit to both 'oversights and untruths', he didn't down from the "memories" of his dental experience.
The dentist looked at my face and told me, “Daniel I want you to be calm. You have been part of an experiment to develop antidotes for diseases caused by the flare. We all hope that you co- “ Suddenly the wall near us collapsed.
Talk about what went well in the scenario. I perform vitals sings and communicated effectively with Mr. Ahmed. I educated the patient in areas such as dehydration, fall risks, intake and ouptup measurements. In addition, I administer oral and intravenous medication to ensure proper drug
In addition to being an excellent residency candidate, Ashraf demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills. One of the first things I noticed while working with Ashraf was how comfortable he made the patients and their families feel. This is attributed to his outstanding bedside manners and his ability to approach the patient in a cohesive way. In one instance, we had a patient who was diagnosed with lung cancer and I gave him the task of breaking the news to her while I observed. He communicated the information effectively and compassionately in a way that put the patient at
Louis, I like that you addressed how our roll as dental hygienists is essential to the education and preventative treatment provided to patients. A major part of what we do for our patients is counsel and teach them appropriate oral hygiene strategies in hopes of encouraging the patient maintain their oral health.
My ambition to study Dental Hygiene and Therapy at University commenced in my teenage years, when I first came to London and visited the dentist. The professional approach coupled with a kind and compassionate nature and all of the different instruments and scientific technology the Dental Hygienist and Therapist used fascinated me. I am currently studying Dental Nursing at Teesside University. This course involves providing correct support to the dentist at the chair side, reassuring and supporting patients, maintaining a gold standard clinical environment, charting, dental anatomy and physiology. Studying this course has enhanced my knowledge of dental terminology and procedures as well as the anatomy of the oral cavity.
For instance, it was interesting to be able to see and work within the different dynamics of the nursing profession. In the OR and endoscopy unit I noticed that the nurses seemed much more relaxed than those on the medical or surgical floor. I felt as though they had copious amounts of time to educate on the different procedures and different pieces of the specialty areas, while allowing me plenty of time to ask questions to broaden my knowledge. In the endoscopy unit, the RN that I shadowed was very involved in my learning and made me feel as if I were a part of the team and not just a
Through the thematic exploration of displacement in Unit One, I had a more profound understanding of displacement. By relating the prevalent issue of displacement with elements of nature, I learned that displacement is part of human nature, and can cause external and internal conflict. Displacement has fire connotations : unpredictable, abrupt, powerful. Futhermore, displacement also has water connotations : uncontrolled, disastrous, suffocating. Through carrying out pratical explorations and using explorative strategies, I realized that the internal conflict displaced people go through are caused by external conflict.
Ever since I was young, dentistry had sparked my interest for my career. Dentistry appeals to me chiefly because I had always wanted to be involved in a profession where I can help people. My love towards human biology especially human teeth also contributes to my career choice. Most importantly, I find human teeth interesting, often fascinating. Due to my compassionate nature, I have since long known that I would want to pursue dentistry as my career because I get to form relationships with my patients, work hand in hand with many people on a face to face basis.
Time passes so fast, the last time I did shadowing was during my previous internship last year and it was still during Wave 1. Having did shadowing before, I had already envisage on what I am supposed to do and what I will be experiencing. However this time, I felt that it was very different from the wave 1 where we have already arrange for an interview instead of door knocking. From my previous experiences, I was already expecting unique and funny encounters and today’s shadowing lived up to my expectations.
