Lonley I am so lonely I have nobody to call my own” (Akon) These lyrics by Akon are going to be used to be compared to George and Lennie the two main characters in the book Mice of Men written by John Steinbeck. This first set of lyrics is related threw Lennie who is a big man that does have personal issues, He who is not very smart and if not all the time the most the time he is often alone. He is a compassionate man, but doesn't realize the strength and power he truly has. Its almost as if he needs someone constantly there for him. He likes having something or someone there for him, or just something to feel like he has a partner with him. One example is when he finds a mouse that he likes. He wants to have the pet mouse to have as his own as a buddy, a friend, a part of him. His friend George wouldn't let him keep any mice because they all die. especially the one Lenny found that was already unconscious as is. George who is a small guy with very smart skills, and great physical power, very hardworking man. He meant the world to Lenny. Almost a brother to Lenny. Well neither …show more content…
”George raised the gun and steadied it, and he brought the muzzle of it close to the back of Lennie’s head. The hand shook violently, but his face set and his hand steadied. He pulled the trigger.” (Steinbeck pg. 52) This is when George is forced to say goodbye to Lennie and shoot him. Even if he didn't want to or couldn't do it he knew he had to make the decision he had to do what's best no matter how bad it hurt them both internally and physically. Now they are both all alone. taking on life alone no more partner in crime. George has noone to look after anymore no one to take care of or protect. Almost as if its a weight off his shoulders. They both lost someone they once
Both Gatsby and Lennie have very similar dreams but they both occur in altogether different settings during the same era. In Of Mice and Men the first scene takes place in a field, it was the most beautiful field Lennie had ever seen. It could be compared to Eden for its serenity. This is a peaceful setting and that is why it is where Lennie first comes before the incident of killing Curley’s wife and the last place he goes to afterwards. Lennie is shot by his friend George at the ending of the novel for the reason that if he did not do it someone else would have and it would not have been as peaceful as George made it.
At the point when George shoots Lennie it demonstrates that he cared for Lennie and realized that in the event that he let the others discover Lennie they would torment him. Steinbeck demonstrates that, in Lennie 's situation, individuals with dysfunctional behaviors were dealt with as sub-par and misjudged with little help in their circumstances. It likewise demonstrates that when individuals are detainees to their status, for example, Curly 's wife, you are headed to do emotional and consideration looking for acts that cause inconvenience of everybody. In the book, the writer utilized words that were not proper English, for example, ain 't and different illustrations "You never oughta drink water when it ain 't running, Lennie,".
George knows that if Lennie lives a life, it'll cause them both trouble. Like in the instance where he killed a man's wife, in which the author writes “And then she was still, for Lennie had broken her neck.” (Steinbeck 91) Lennie murdered a woman, so he needs to be shot for his actions. So then George kills Lennie, the author writes in regard to this “Lennie jarred, and then settled slowly forward to the sand, lay without quivering.”
When Lennie says he could just leave, George rationally refuses to allow him because he can not authorize Lennie dieing on his own like that. Truly remarkable people take accountability for their best friend’s actions and
Sympathy is feeling pity or sorry for someone based on their mental abilities or how people acts and how people is treated that’s what sympathy is, and this is what happened in the OMAM book. In the novel Lennie is the most sympathetic character in Of Mice and Man because he has mental problems and he forget things easily because of his disability and always George gives instructions to Lennie, because always he talks they get in trouble then Lennie is treated badly by him, Lennie cannot follow directions and he dies, he is the most sympathetic character because he is treated badly because he does so many things that are wrong for him but he can’t understand because of his disability and he is slow this is why he is the most sympathetic
This results into George unwillingly killing Lennie. Steinbeck
Lennie is the central character in the novel Of Mice and Men written by John Steinback who demonstrates the difficulties both Lennie, and George faced in the great depression period, and the hardships many of the characters faced throughout this story purporting to represent a state of loneliness and alienation during the difficult time. Despite the fact he doesn’t intentionally want to cause harm, he isn’t aware of the strength he holds so he ends up causing lots of friction between the rest
In the book Of Mice and Men written by John Steinbeck, he writes about two men one named Lennie and one named George having a dream, but is ruined through the troubles of Lennie 's doings. This book was written in the 1930’s talking about migrant workers and how they survived through that era. In that era all migrant workers preferably work alone, but with George and Lennie they stick together because Lennie is a more challenged person so he doesn 't know his wrong doings which causes lots of trouble for George. On page 94, one of the most significant passages is written on having a dialogue between George and Candy about how they were unable to get the farm because Lennie had ruined their chances of getting it. Steinbeck creates a motif of loneliness through the different characters he writes about, ties in different strands of the story to make one storyline, and foreshadows events to come.
• There was evening brightness about 10 o’ clock ,Slim and Lennie are walking to the bunk house. George tell that Lennie's Aunt clara used to tease him so he become very dumb and so crazy. George also tell Slim that Lennie used to frightened a couple of girl in weed with his petting. Loneliness can often make a person feel empty and upset. It can leave a person in despair and make them feel like they have no ambition. Steinbeck presents the possibility of forlornness and men who chip away at ranches,
In the novella, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, suggests that companionships can help a person fight through hardships through the use of characterization. Having a friend not only gives a chance to lend a hand to the ones we love, but also helps diminish the feeling of loneliness or isolation. Whenever George reaches his breaking point, he communicates his emotions set towards Lennie. For instance, George often gets angry at Lennie over his mistakes and threatens to leave him. When they are sitting around the fire at night, on their way to the farm, George expresses his desire to be able to travel alone one day and not have Lennie as a burden.
Since this is my second time reading Of Mice and Men, I was able to look at it differently and more carefully than I was able to the first time; focusing more on the subtle things than on the main plot. What I found was that Steinbeck, the author of the book, does an impeccable job of describing how George and Lennie live. I loved how just by reading words I could get a vivid, clear, picture into my head. Although it took some time, I can now begin to understand and relate to the relationship between George and Lennie, who is mentally disabled, without having a relationship similar to it in my own life.
His wife yells at Lennie to stop which causes him to get upset and accidentally kills her. George keeps his feelings to himself, and he doesn’t care for others, but he shares personal information about himself and Lennie to Slim, and he always protects Lennie and helps him out of trouble, which shows that he isn’t always selfish. George is very protective of Lennie, which means that George cares for him. In chapter one, they have a conversation and Lennie questions whether he should stay with George or
In Of Mice and Men George knows that he is not safe with Lennie. Lennie gets them into too much trouble, and if he stays with him, he knows nothing good will come out of it. Since Lennie killed Curley’s wife, George decided to take over the revenge. “And George raised the gun and
Of Mice and Men was published in 1937 during a time of bi-racism between the caucasians and the african americans, and the apathetic Great Depression, which may have served as inspiration. In the novel two opposites attract, a gargantuan but mentally challenged man by the name of Lennie, and a small, nimble, and intelligent man named George. Suffering from a mental illness Lennie gets into trouble when he 's alone, but George always saves him, George knows Lennie doesn 't do anything, “out of meanness” as he says. Undoubtedly the reader assimilates that Lennie kills a young lady, said to have done so accidentally. Furthermore without any control George was forced to kill Lennie.
