With cap cuts coming, are the Steelers scouting a new middle linebacker at the combine? As I wrote in one of our past prospect watches, the Steelers could draft a middle linebacker in the mid-round of this year’s draft. Lawrence Timmons is owed over $15 million and his production has slipped over the past few seasons. One of the most decorated middle linebackers in this draft is Scooby Wright out of Arizona. This former two-star recruit burst on the national spotlight leading the Wildcats to an appearance in the Fiesta Bowl in 2014. That year, Wright won the Chuck Bednarik, Vince Lombardi and Bronko Nagurski awards along with the PAC-12 Defensive Player of the Year. He was also a consensus All-American. Scooby’s season should go down as one of the best in the history of college football for a …show more content…
Despite concerns of durability issues, his 6 foot 246 lbs. frame is prototypical for most inside backers though he does lack leg strength. Wright shows athleticism at the position by being able to run sideline to sideline to track down ball carriers. Scooby is not afraid to deliver huge hits while he has been to go after the ball and rip or punch the ball out leading to a fumble. However, Wright has shown that he will sometimes over pursue plays leaving teammates out to dry. He was also limited in pass coverage as he was asked to blitz a lot in Arizona’s 3-3-5 defensive scheme. A player like Wright with the athletic ability and football instincts at the linebacker position would be a great fit to the Steelers defense. Selecting Scooby could be a boom or bust proposition for the Black & Gold. The Steelers are already dealing with their own china doll at middle linebacker (Ryan Shazier) and would be a risky move to bring in another backer with durability issues. Still, Wright’s upside might be too good for the Steeler to pass
The system prefers a mobile quarterback, since that 's when it works best, such as when Robert Griffin III was at quarterback, Bryce Petty was underrated for his ability to run with the ball, he got what
Smart, Athletic, and Worth Over $10 Million Standing 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighing over 300 pounds, D 'Brickashaw Ferguson is an imposing sight. At first glance, you might not consider that he makes his money off of speed and agility, but he does. Ferguson can run the 40 yard dash in 5.08 seconds and has a 30 inch vertical jump. That means he can get his 6 foot 6 inch frame nearly 3 feet off the ground. He has a black belt in Shotokan Karate, but tempers his skill with a degree in Biblical studies.
Another addition would be understandable with Michael Campanaro, Chris Moore and Keenan Reynolds as the next men up on the depth chart. We 'll continue to watch for more on that. In the meantime, fantasy owners shouldn 't go overboard on Maclin. It would be wise to see how his role develops before investing, but there could be value to
It would best for the Lions organization to draft a defensive tackle to show up the middle of the defense. Louisville's DT Sheldon Rankins would be a good fit if the Lions get snag him in the draft. The 6'1 Rankins who weighs in at 299 pounds impressed at the combine with his 5.03 40-yard dash and a 34.5 vertical jump. The Lions have already shown interest in Rankins, he would fit nicely in their system. There are a few other holes such as wide receiver and cornerback perhaps, but filling the above positions will get the Detroit Lions over the hump and back into contention.
One of the premier players in the league, Bellows addition to the United States Development Team is a positive step in his development, as he will continue to be challenged throughout the year against higher levels of competition than just the USHL. That said, he is still being given time in the league and is one of the premier players in the league when he suits up. Faceoffs from
Although he has another preference, this news may tarnish his relationship with the Niners and if the Jets do not make a move, he is an extremely viable option in Philadelphia. But, the riskiest move would be trading for Robert Griffin III, a young signal caller who had high success when he was able to stay on the field. Kirk Cousins was able to take over the starting spot in Washington due RG3’s injuries, but Griffin showed spectacular bursts of play and a change of scenery is severely needed to see if he gain regain his
He’s looking to be that big-play wide-receiver that wins his one on one matchups to make teams think about doubling Dez. Also Cole Beasley had a tremendous camp I mean the guy couldn’t be covered at all
Is JJ Watt The Best Defensive Player In Our Time? Some people say Richard Sherman, Clay Matthews, Josh Norman, Von Miller are the best defensive players in the NFL but I think that JJ Watt is the best Defensive Player in the NFL.
While the offensive front core is more than talented enough make a star out of any average runner, Notre Dame has filled their back field with talent equally impressive as the men who will be blocking for them. Senior Tarean Folston will be the work horse for Notre Dame this season. Folston has a natural ability of running through defenders, rarely going down due to first contact. His dangerously quick cutting ability combined with split second decision making when it comes to making a read has led him to be one of the most dependable backs at Notre Dame in a number of
Our receiver worked pretty well bringing in WSM, too. Some
Billy Sims was a star running back for Oklahoma in the 1970’s. Billy was a two-time All-American and won the Heisman (“Pro Football Reference”). Adrian Peterson was a running back for the Sooners from 2004 to 2007. He rushed for 1,925 yards as a freshman and holds the NCAA freshman record (White 37). Baker Mayfield was Oklahoma’s quarterback from 2015 to 2017.
Well, with Fowler out for the year, Williams will cruise to the defensive rookie of the year award. With the loss of Sheldon Richardson (Suspension), the Jets will need Williams to step up in a big way, and I think he will. He’s going to see a lot of one on one matchups from opposing offensive lines, something that will result in a lot of sacks and tackles for loss. Comeback Player Of The Year: Sam Bradford: QB Philadelphia Eagles: 16 Games Played, 4562 Passing Yards, 37 Touchdowns
Chris McCandless was in his early 20’s, he was the kind of that guy that wanted to learn and experience life without all of the material things. He wanted to be independent from his parents and friends so Chris did something that would be insane for most of us humans but to him, it wasn’t. He went into the wild of Alaska for months, in fact, McCandless even thought he could make it out alive at the end of his journey. As a matter of fact, he was known as being a risk taker and enjoyed being out and about in the nature side of the world. Many would believe that Chris McCandless went into the wild to purposely kill himself; however, I myself believe that McCandless did not do it purposely.
The Los Angeles Lakers shot an abysmal 29 percent from the floor in their 90-71 preseason-opening loss to the Utah Jazz here Sunday, and many of those misses occurred the same way. They hit the front of the rim. Typically, a poor shooting night with so many players clanking so many shots off the front iron is a common sign of team-wide fatigue, which seemed understandable as Lakers coach Byron Scott has focused on running his players hard throughout training camp here.
Jayson Tatum, De’Aaron Fox, and Markelle Fultz are great talents drafted out of the 2017 NBA draft and only one can be named Rookie of the Year by a elite group of NBA writes upcoming season. I will be showing why each of these player could be Rookie of the Year. Jayson Tatum was drafted third overall to the Boston Celtics, Jayson is one of the most NBA ready body weighing in at 205lbs and with the height of 6’8 being one of the biggest forward in the draft. The Celtics will need Tatum to contribute immediately due to the fact they traded Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder for Kyrie Irving.
