I want you to imagine you woke up this morning and was worried about whether you were going to get to have water. Imagine you also had a family you had to take care of, what would you do? How would you react if this happened every single day? For my Passion Project this year I worked with Nurai Arafa and we believe that water is something every living thing should have a right to. Sadly, many people don’t have this right, even in our country. My goal for the Passion Project this year is to spread awareness about the lack of water in the world, raise money to help people in the world get water, and provide at least 10 people with clean water. The first two and half quarters of the year was focused on raising money and spreading awareness to third world country struggles, specifically water in South Asia. I have so far read two books and will be starting another one soon, it is called Your Water Footprint. My research at the beginning of the year was very brief and gave me a little information about my project. The books I …show more content…
One lady we talked was a U.S. Veteran when we started to talk to her, she talked about her experiences from when she was in the force. This woman was really nice and she knew a lot about the cause and helped us broaden our knowledge on the topic. This lady was also one of the first people we talked to so, her kindness really helped to make us less nervous. From my volunteering efforts I learned that raising money (even if it is for a very important cause) it harder than it may seem. I also learned that when you make a quick speech you shouldn’t make it too long. When Nurai and I did our fundraiser, we started with a really long speech and went to this guy’s door, when we gave him our speech it was about 5 minutes long. By the time we talked to the last person, the speech was about 2 minutes
Has the lack of water supply affected your life in the past three years? California has been in a drought recently, and there has been a great decrease in citizen water possession. The state should regulate water usage because people are using too much water, and it is affecting other people. There have been many cases of water shortages in communities. “For Angelica Gallegos, the worst part has been going without a shower for five months.”
In my freshman year, I made a choice to relinquish some of my social life and replace that time giving back to my community. I joined a non-profit organization called the Volunteer Corp. We spent our time at food banks, park clean-ups, and even hosting local events. This experience left a lasting impression on me in many ways; however, one experience changed my perspective on life and serve as a constant reminder of how the smallest contribution to others can be the most powerful. St. Joseph University, in Philadelphia, held an event called Hand in Hand. It was an event dedicated to raising awareness for people with physical and/or developmental disabilities.
Drought It’s been years since water came out of my faucet and days since my last drink of water. Even if I did have water would it be worth the risk? Our people have become diseased. Our animals are suffering and we have to walk miles and miles until we find “adequate” water.
Introduction: Growing up in a small family can have plenty of ups and down but most importantly we grow to love each other very much. We have been faced with tough situations that can either break a family or build a better bond between us. My family is very small and is very dysfunctional but I cannot help but to love them. I have two younger sisters who are 15 and 13 years old. I am the oldest and the second person in my family to attend college.
I have had the unforgettable opportunity to personally raise $1,400 for kids to go to summer camp, whose families could not afford it otherwise. I have worked at food drives, homeless shelters, and kid’s programs in my town, in hopes to make someone’s day a little bit better and ultimately make my community stronger. These experiences shaped who I am today. While I cherish the experience I had making a difference in my own town, I am ready to grow and leave a positive impact somewhere else in the country.
The text allows for the reader to understand what the water crisis is, and how it is impacting our daily lives. The text also gives the reader multiple different examples of water control in the United States. But, because of all the corporate greed, corporations are ruining our natural resource of water by creating it into a commodity and selling it. This book gives great insight on how corrupt the government can be when they want to make a cheap buck. Again, “Water is a necessity of life that touches everyone in their own homes” (Snitow and Kaufman, 1) water is a right to all humans, not a commodity for business
Water is the greatest resource upon the Earth, but what happens when it runs out? Even worse, what happens when humans bottle the water, of which all life relies on, and sells it to us with false claims? Well, we've already been on the receiving end of this trick for years, almost unknowingly. The documentary Tapped, directed by Stephanie Soechtig and Jason Lindsey, gives a look into the bottled water industry and the effects it has on society. The film taps into human emotions, brings about logical reasoning and statistics, and uses sources with valid credibility to address a hidden issue.
Have you ever felt like you feel pressure by making decisions which then would affect others or the situation? Let me explain how the congress and the president are dealing with the Dreamers, as well as deportation. An article quoted from the president that states, “DACA is a very, very difficult subject for me, I will tell you. To me, it's one of the most difficult subjects I have because you have these incredible kids,” Mr Trump said in February, less than a month after taking office. “We're gonna deal with DACA with heart"(Alexandra Wilts).
“As the population rises, the world 's water usage will rise. Many areas of the world already suffer from a lack of fresh water,” (Population Control 3). If the world runs out of freshwater, humanity will plunge into chaos. Humanity needs water to survive, and that is a fact. Relationships between countries will be broken apart over disputes for water.

Optimism is hopefulness for the future, and, like me, most people get their optimism from their roots, or how they were brought up as a child. My parents would always remind me from a young age that being pessimistic will not help you achieve your goal, so you might as well be optimistic and try. They have always taught me from a young age, and never denied or doubted, that with optimism comes opportunity, and that optimism is, in fact, the key to success. Over the years, I’ve learned that the more optimistic you are, the more creative you can be. With optimistic attitude, one can generate new ideas and create possibilities to move forward faster and more efficiently than at normal times, due to an open mind.
Family Family is one of the greatest gift and blessing from the Lord. Without family you can not feel love, care , satisfaction and happiness. They are the most treasured blessing that no one can take away from us. It is also like a fragile thing you consider as the most precious gem in your whole life. Family is a basic unit in the society traditionally consisting of parents and children.
Life is not about being born, go to school get a degree, amass wealth, get married, raise a family and die to be buried. There is more to life than just this process. Like Jeremiah, God told him that before you were formed, I knew you and before you came out of your mother’s womb, I sanctified you and ordained you a prophet. This supports the fact that, before you were born, a work has already been assigned to your name. To put it this way, every human embryo has a work assigned to it, to accomplish on earth so it doesn’t matter how the human embryo was formed or who carries it.
In our life, there are periods of challenges that we must face, but the real challenge is how we grow and learn from overcoming them. Being naive children, we believed that life was simplistic and effortless. Well, we were wrong, we can only yearn for life to be easy. Growing up, we continue to face countless hurdles that only get bigger and bigger. My life, in particular, has been filled with numerous up and downs.
Self-love is the foundation to all success. Whether you desire to have a loving relationship, good health or more abundance it all begins with how really you feel about you. Self-love and acceptance are essential to improve your way of life. You cannot find true and everlasting love and happiness without learning to love you first. I’m not talking about an egotistical way of loving you but rather a nurturing spiritual way.
