“A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...” This quote which is seen at the beginning of every Star Wars movie almost immediately sparks pleasant memories in the minds of everyone, but contrary to what is being said the events of Star Wars are not as far from home as you would first assume. Even from an early age people can see and relate to the desire for good prevail over evil. However even as they grow up and the lines begin to blur, people can still relate to the story, and the values within. Things like the importance of freedom, liberation from oppression, and more are shown throughout the story. Such as in key moments like the destruction of the Death Star, the Rebellion itself, and much …show more content…
While this may be the case, many of these stories fall short in public opinion. Star Wars is something that both highlights American believes, but also appeals to people beyond that. While these stories do exist such as Moby Dick and the scarlet letter, they do not appeal to as large an audience as Star Wars and can be difficult to relate to or even read for children. This is where Star Wars succeeds and where most of Star Wars potential to be The American Epic comes from. Simply put, it also reflects American

Every child comes into this world as a selfish, manipulative, cruel and stubborn being. It is the parents and society that teaches children how to function in a civilized world, and societal laws that keeps them under control. William Golding wrote this novel in the early years of the cold war and the atomic age. In William Golding's classic novel Lord of the Flies, Golding uses Jack, a young savage who looks to lead a group of stranded kids on an island with no food, no rules, and no adults. The effect freedom has on Jack has turned him into a savage because he does not have to listen to anyone since there are no adults on the island.

The example I used was about Star Wars on the external video (part 2) by Kirby Ferguson. After watching the video, it was easy to discover that Star Wars was not an original idea. The movie is an example of how taking ideas from others allow you to make something great. Nearly 40 years after the first Star Wars film debuted, it is still one of the most biggest franchises to this date. There are many scenes throughout the movie that resembles scenes from other movies.
Let Life Live Spiritual Guru, Osho once stated, “Life should not only be lived, it should be celebrated”. This ties into The Fault in Our Stars by John Green because, Hazel only lived her life safely, until Augustus came along and showed her all of the excitement her life could have, if she let it. The argument made by the author Robert Sklar in his book Movie-Made America has to do with the impact that American movies have had on the country's culture and society as a whole. Sklar says this by stating that, “American movies, through much of their span, have altered or challenged many of the values and doctrines of powerful social and cultural forces in American society, providing alternative ways of understanding the world.”
Americans and movies have a unique relationship. While the American public lets the movies of Hollywood engulf them with various amounts of pop culture references, the movies reflect the culture of American people in way of religion, beliefs, and concerns. Movies hold a substantial place holder with the American society; they show what most Americans believe in during the time period in which they are made. During the 1940’s and 1950’s, movies showed a more modest and conservative America, a small reflection of its time. George Lucas' Star Wars has been an "unprecedented commercial success in the history of cinema and has made a huge cultural impact" (Feichtinger 28). It is a popular franchise and is widely known all over the world. Star Wars plays a major role in influencing the youth and sending a message to everyone, especially the fans. These spiritual teachings and motifs are seen throughout the Star Wars movies and they "promote values and worldviews", which are adopted from Buddhism (Feichtinger 34).
As one of the main forms of American heroic film, Marvel Movies films are captured by a large number of Chinese audiences by virtue of its wonderful storyline, intense fighting scenes, dazzling psychedelic special effects scenes and other high-quality popular consumer cultures elements.
