The stylish episode VIII of the Star Wars franchise, the second of a trilogy that began in 2015 with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, was given the title of “The Last Jedi” and keeps dividing audiences worldwide. While its visual impact is undeniable, old and new characters work together to infuse zest and grittiness in an impetuous inspiration by Rian Johnson (“Brick”, “Looper”), who penned and directed with equal doses of passion and fascination. The director actually captured the tonal spirit of the precedent episodes and elevated it through bold and fresh ideas. However, this spacial opus could have run shorter than the two hours and a half without major loss. The spectacular battles between the dominant First Order, an evil military junta commanded by the Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis), and the Resistance, led by General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), are in the center of the attention. However, and because this is far from being a tacky tale, one can find a decent emotional side attached to it, as well as a winning humor, which associated to speedy action scenes, regales with an inviting diversion. …show more content…
She wants to convince him joining the Resistance. After the initial stubbornness and refusal, Luke ends up accepting the challenge and even teaches her the ways of the Jedi as he sees a lot of courage, righteousness, and skills in her that are so characteristic from The Force. However, Rey communicates telepathically with the venomous Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), son of Leia and Ben Solo, whose ambiguous behavior and sly intentions will drag her to Snoke’s
Star Wars is an epic space opera film series created by George Lucas, which includes galactic battles, theatrical adventure, as well as chivalric romance. The music, mainly composed by John Williams, gives depth to the storyline and is something that fans of all ages will always remember. The specific Star Wars movie that I have chosen to analyze is Star Wars, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, which was released on May 25, 1983.
Lucas also uses different archetypes and mythic symbols to add variety to how we understand the characters and their journeys. The Star Wars franchise has intricate elements that appeal to all generations of movie watchers. The technology
What was his/her childhood like? Luke Skywalker Luke Skywalker spent his first 19 years of his life on a moisture farm on Tatooine , where his uncle tried unsuccessfully to stop young Lukes adventurous streak “You can keep him here,he 's to much like his father”. As a teenager, Skywalker dreamed of adventures beyond Tatooine and clashed with his uncle over his desires to fly among the stars to distant worlds. Luke Skywalker possessed talents in droid repair, piloting, and the Force, making him very much his father 's son. He had dreams of joining the Imperial Academy to fight the evil empire and becoming a pilot.
Once the hero has received his Call to adventure, like George Lucas’s Luke Skywalker from Star Wars, they must go on to face their first challenge, the threshold guardians, which ultimately challenge their will to take on the burden of the task. For young master Skywalker, the threshold guardians come with guns. Shortly after young Skywalker receives his call to adventure, from R2-D2, the little droid disappears. When Luke finally locates R2, a group of warriors called Tusken Raiders strike at Skywalker, knocking him out. The sand savages scavenge through Luke’s vehicle, until Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi arrives scaring off the savages, saving Luke.
One boy with a dream that becomes a harsh reality? Everyone encounters dreams or goals in their life, but some never get to complete them. This young hero has a dream of being a pilot for the rebellion, but he gets more than he bargained for. This young hero is Luke Skywalker from the Star Wars series, the son of Darth Vader and the new hope of the rebel alliance. Throughout these movies Luke Skywalker demonstrates the “Hero’s Journey” clearly with a lot of detail.
` In May of 1977, Star Wars: A New Hope was released with overwhelmingly positive reviews and marking a new era in cinema. The writer and director of the film, George Lucas, decided to expand upon the Star Wars universe in 1999 by making Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, with a story that took place before the original film’s story. This movie was made with advanced equipment and cutting-edge CGI (for 1999), nonetheless, the movie was panned by critics and enraged an entire generation of moviegoers. The answer to why this happened lies in the differences between the two films: use of special effects, construction of characters, and complexity of plot. “A special effect is a tool, a means of telling a story.
Title His 10 year old mind could not wait for tomorrow night. Young Matt had just learned the night before that TNT would be playing a marathon of the Star Wars prequels, 3 of his most enjoyed and favorite movies ever. Matt loved all of the Star Wars movies for George Lucas’s amazing storytelling and the obvious reason, the great visual effects in the movies. When Matt heard the news that tomorrow night TNT would be playing the prequels he told his entire family and they decided that they should have a family movie night.
Entering the room, Kylo Ren moved to join them. “Finding the flaw in your training menthods won’t help recover the droid.” Although his mask concealed his facial expression, the rage simmering below his calm demeanor was almost palpable. “And yet, there are larger concerns,” Hux insisted.
Since its release, the film has generated over $1.3 billion worldwide and set a record as the highest-grossing film of 2017. The film’s plot is based on a looming war between Snoke’s (Andy Serkis) forces and Luke Skywalker’s (Mark Hamill) resistance team. With the First Order planning to take control of the entire galaxy’s military, General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) leads a team of soldiers to conduct an evacuation from a military base targeted by the oncoming forces led by Snoke.
The release of the seventh Star Wars film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, was met with much anticipation and of course multiple fan-made theories. Is Kylo Ren a double agent? Did Rey have training in the force, but her memory was wiped? Was it Kylo Ren that saved Rey and sent her to Jakku? The theories are thought-provoking and contain viable evidence.
The hero this paper is on is Luke Skywalker. He is the hero in star wars. An article on starwars.com it said “Luke Skywalker was a Tatooine farm boy who rose from humble beginnings to become one of the greatest Jedi the galaxy has ever known. Along with his friends Princess Leia and Han Solo, Luke battled the evil Empire, discovered the truth of his parentage, and ended the tyranny of the Sith.” Luke Skywalker came from Tatooine, a desert planet with two suns.
Rey finds out she has the force and can be very powerful, she teams up with Finn, Han-Solo, Chewbacca, and The Resistance to save the day! This movie was pretty good! I didn’t like how confusing it was, the people and places were just always changing. The characters in this story are so weird!
“Only in dreams can men be truly free,” says Robin William, a famous actor. From time immemorial, human never ceased to pursue freedom, but in fact, many impossibilities exist. However, this still cannot stop their aspiration to freedom, in this case, movie come into the world, for from a very large extent, movie satisfied people’s fantasy. Especially when the technique of special effect at present age grow more and more mature these days, human can create any visual effects they want, and even in the past, when the technique has not yet matured, people use simple theatrical properties and cut the films to create special effect. Hugo, a movie that brings people back to the old days, contains a large number of elements that demonstrated people’s
Over the past century, film has served as a powerful means of communication to a global audience and has become a vital part of the contemporary culture in a world that is increasingly saturated by visual content. Due to the immediacy and the all-encompassing nature of film, the process of watching a film, is widely perceived to be a passive activity by the general masses. However, quoting Smith in his article about the study of film, “nothing could be further from the truth.” The study and understanding of film as an art form enhances the way we watch and appreciate films. It requires the audience's active participation and interaction with the film in order to fully comprehend the directors' intention behind every creative decision.
By tying the two movies together with a television show that appeals to a completely different audience, Star Wars is able to continually expand and reach new audiences through effective use of Transmedia
