The battles that Beowulf took part in, in Beowulf, reflect how the hero of an epic performs courageous, sometimes even superhuman deeds that reflect the values of society. For doing this deed, the people of the kingdom saw Beowulf as a paragon, he fought for honor, and to show his bravery.
