They sell merchandise at low profit margins. Target has a main strategy of offering an upscale ambiance, for example, many Targets include a Starbucks Café. They focus on a more expensive, stylish and a higher quality of products. They tend to focus on a niche market of consumers that prefer the upscale discount store (Graff, 2006). Our reason in including Wal-Mart as one of our greatest competitors is because of their vast amount of merchandise. Although, JCPenney and WalMart contain some minor similarities, WalMart is targets more the masses. While, JCPenney tries to find their customers by their marketing strategies.

Problem Recognition (Awareness of needs): In thoughts of health products, consumers would will link with the brand ‘OSIM’ as for it well-known reputation brand against other competitors. It is great for not just personal usage, it is one of the best choice as a gifts to parents, especially during special occasion such as birthday celebration, mother day, father day, festive season. This will be the input stage that cause influences that may cause the need recognition stage.
A new competitor is a risk occurrence that is completely out of the control of the business. Consumers have different tastes. A new competitor may be able to tap into some of Target’s core customer based with some differentiation. Target will need to have be to tap into and respond to those customer needs by altering its products and services to match those of its competitor. If Target has effective risk management system to track external risk like changes in customer needs or wants, the retailer will be ready if another competitor tries to enter the marker to meet those needs.
Target also invests chairs and tables for customers who want to have meals or drinks in food location which is comfortable for customers.
