Teaching Assistant Application Essay

From an early age, I have been fascinated by the workings of life; the human body is a remarkable machine with many diverse systems producing an organism that can never be artificially reproduced. My decision to study a course that provides care and love to patients originated from my ambition to pursue a career that combined my enthusiasm for sciences, particularly Biology and Chemistry, with my love of working with people.
My interest in helping individuals was sparked during my work placement at a local Optician. During my time here, I have developed many skills suiting the optical environment and the experience has helped further my understanding of this field. I began by shadowing my experienced colleagues in a range of services such as dispensing suitable spectacles for each patient. I also had the opportunity to enter the procedure room and observe the doctor whilst he undertakes an eye/contact lens exam on each patient.

I did have first aid training and also dealt with situations where I had to be depended on for treating those students when needed. I believe I was quick and calm which is significantly efficient as a role of any lifetime career, as panicking would only make the situation worse. Not only does this give me the experience of handling patients with care, it also gave me a feeling of satisfaction when parents of the children were delighted to hear that there was someone out there, helping their child and trusted upon. This therefore, made me think of doing a job where I can make a positive difference in people’s
