The wars had been waged to protect americans from the french and indian allies. The french tried to finesse the americans by raising taxes on the american colonists to help pay their debt. One of the first taxes imposed by the british parliament was known as the stamp act. Then the americans had to pay on a variety of printed documents like legal docs., licenses, newspaper, pamphlets, etc.. John adams wrote a resolution to protest the stamp act.
