My hero is Thomas Jefferson, he doesn't have a middle name. It says in the book “Thomas Jefferson Architect of Democracy” he was born on April 13, 1743. One of his quotes is “In matters of style, swim with the current;in matters principle, stand like a rock.” Another one is “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” Yet before Thomas Jefferson became a hero he was a regular child.
As a child Tom's father taught him riding, fishing, hunting, swimming, and surveying. He had an older sister named Jane. He went to James Murray School it said in the book “Thomas Jefferson Architect of Democracy”. For college he went to William and Mary College. Tom read in Greek and Latin which led to the future author of the Declaration of independence.

One reason is he double the size of the United States when he purchased the Louisiana Territory. In 1768, Thomas Jefferson was elected to the House of Burgesses. He was a man of the Eighteenth Century a very intelligent yet he was just like all human beings; weak and strong. When a president enters office, he often comes with a long list of demands and changes he plans on making for the nation that the man before him did not accomplish. Although he was a critical component in lighting the fires of the American Revolution (after all, he did invite a younger Thomas Payne onto a boat across the world in hope to start a better life), he died several years after in 1790. Ironically his last goal was a push for the ending of slavery, which he failed at. Our final "Great American" , Thomas Jefferson, was known to be a literary and technical genius. However he also was considered by many in his time to be posh, aristocratic, And generally out of touch with most of Americans. He traveled around Burgesses while a lawyer, and while traveling, "he met and fell in love with twenty-three-year-old Martha Wayles Skelton, a wealthy widow and daughter of a prominent Virginia lawyer and landowner" (Onuf). They married in 1772, and got a pretty rundown house, but thanks to Jefferson himself (and some slave laborers), he was able to make it a lot better than how it was. The name of our hero is George Washington. He is our hero because he was the first to become president of the U.S.A, he was also a chief of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. George Washington was asked to be the general of the United states first army and he was asked to be the first President. George Washington is our hero because if he hadn’t won the war the United States most likely would have been punished for Rebelling and severely punished. We also might have lost all of our freedoms to Britain and had to pay even more taxes.
