“It is to be regretted the rich and powerful too often bend the acts of government to their own selfish purposes.” Andrew Jackson was a self-made man. He came from a poor family and had a difficult childhood. Andrew Jackson joined the militia when he was young. He won the Battle of New Orleans because he had skills. Now, Andrew Jackson is on the $20 bill and was the 7th president of the United States. I think Andrew Jackson shouldn’t be on the $20 bill because he forced Native Americans out of their homes, he didn’t follow rules and strengthened the power of the executive branch.

Andrew Jackson started the trend of electing their cabinet members, also called the spoils system. Andrew Jackson made the president job like the most powerful job. Jackson also used many exploits involving the military, including when he created the force bill which allowed him to use the military to force southerners to pay tax. Some might argue with his time given to them and he only used the military to get people to do what is right, he should have the honor of appearing on the $20 bill. This is a legitimate concern because he probably gave some time for them to pay their tax and only used it for that. However, he didn’t only use the Force Act as an one time use. He also used it to force Native Americans to move west and many other things that people didn’t agree, he would use the military to force them to. Andrew Jackson brought the President’s position closer to a king by just doing anything he felt was right. This was significant because he can’t just strengthen the executive branch and do anything he felt was right. He shouldn’t be on the $20
