From hearing a prophecy to committing murder, Macbeth develops a different character throughout the play. That could say MacBeth let a few words from the ‘witches’ puppet him. He was not the only one who was controlled; Lady Macbeth let Duncan’s death take over her, and drive her to insanity. To losing sleep, and going crazy, Lady Macbeth let her guilt eat her alive little by little. From a happy marriage to the MacBeths no longer having love in their relationship and only having fear, guilt and hunger for power. Through it all would you consider Lady Macbeth’s suicide was a cowardly case?
MacBeth did not care about who he had to kill in order to be high and powerful. You can see his obsession to become the king and have that title, just by hearing the witches prophecy.”All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, thane of Glamis! All hail, Macbeth, hail to thee, thane of Cawdor! All hail, Macbeth, thou shalt be king hereafter”(I.III.50-52) His whole life changed and the reason is he let it control him and his actions.But at first he was filled with doubt in himself if he could actually do it. Yet Lady Macbeth was just as obsessed with having a good title and being powerful, she wanted Macbeth to kill Duncan. Questioning Macbeth and making him feel weak because he did not know if he wanted to kill.
