Naivety occurs on every child. Every new experience washes away some of their naivety until there is none. In the short story, “The Stolen Party,” by Liliana Heker, the main character, Rosaura, is a nine year old girl that is full of naivety. She attends a birthday party that consists of people from a higher class than her; later, she finds out that she was treated as a servant worker. The abstruse concept of social classism plummeted on the young, innocent Rosaura. Rosaura shows naivety throughout the story, but she is no longer naive after the party ends in a rather tragic way. In the beginning of the story, Rosaura’s naivety is revealed. When Rosaura enters the party, Luciana’s cousin, the girl with the bow, doubts her relationship with Luciana. The story states, “‘ I’m a friend of …show more content…
After the party ends, Rosaura imagines that she is going to receive gifts before leaving, but Senora Ines held out money as if she is paying Rosaura for her remunerations. The story explains, “‘Thank you for all your help, my pet.’… Instinctively she pressed herself against her mother’s body... Rosaura’s eyes had a cold, clear look that fixed itself on Senora Ines’s face.” This quote hints Rosaura’s change in personality. Her action of moving closer to her mother shows that she desires protection from her mother immensely after being severely insulted as a pet. She could not withstand the reality that she was treated as someone from a lower class, or the working class. In addition, Rosaura’s silence and cold eyes reflect that she had understand the social classism that separates her from befriending Luciana. Previously, she reacted strongly to the accusations from both her mother and Luciana’s cousin because she thought that they are from the same class as her. Now that she realizes Senora Ines is from a higher class, she keeps silent. Rosaura’s attitude change at the end is enough to show that she is no longer

“The Stolen Party” is a short story written by Liliana Heker, about a young girl named Rosaura, who attends an upper-class party believing that she is a guest. Rosaura, a maid's daughter, thought that she was invited to enjoy the party of her friend Luciana. However, throughout the story, Heker subtly displays Rosaura as a servant rather than a friend to the birthday girl. Rosaura, at the time, has yet to realize and assumed that she was just special. After the party was over, Rosaura eagerly waited for the presents that Senora Ines was distributing.

In the story “The Stolen Party” by Liliana Heker uses surprises, feelings/emotions, humor, sarcasm, and repetition to represent Rosaura. Rosaura wanted to make sure. Carefully she entered the kitchen and there she saw it: deep in thought, inside its cage. It looked so funny that the girl stood there for a while, watching it, and later, senora Ines had said that Rosaura was the only one allowed in the kitchen because they’re much too boisterous they might break something. “ The stolen party” Rosaura’s mom already knows that Rosaura isn't going to be a guest her mom realizes that she is there to serve the actual guests because Rosaura’s mom works for senora Ines “ I don’t like you going,”she told her. “It’s a rich people’s party.”
"’The elders are looking for someone to blame. We will give them many someones.’ ‘You will give forth the names of people as witches? When you know you girls are not really afflicted?’ ‘We will, and the elders will be glad to know that the cause of the bickering and trouble in this place lies not at their own feet but is the fault of witches living amongst us.’"

The Spanish film, Volver by Pedro Almodover was released in 2006. The film leaves the viewer a bit confused but this maybe a result of its unusual structure. At one point you think that the film is in typical Dramatic Structure; following the life of Raimunda played by Penelope Cruz. What confuses some viewers is that the focus of the story seems to shift from Raimunda as the main character and bounces around to different characters in the film. In typical dramatic structure the film has a clear beginning, middle and end.
In “The Stolen Party" by Liliana Heker and the poem “Borders” by Denice Frohman, the main characters hope that they will be treated just like everyone else, only to realize that people will treat them differently because of their background or social class. While Rosaura in “The Stolen Party” is seen as nothing more than a maid, Ana Maria in “Borders” is seen as nothing more than a poor immigrant. Both texts develop the thematic topic of inequality by discussing how social class affects the main characters. In “Borders”, the thematic topic of inequality is developed by discussing how social class affects the main characters.
The fairy tale Cinderella emphasizes that despite the abuse of her family the support of her“godmother” one can escape that reality for just one night. When the fairy godmother supported Cinderella to go to the ball that she dearly wanted to attend, the godmother threw some fairy dust and reminded her that she must be back home before midnight or she will be revealing her identity. Just like Cinderella my father restricted me to attend any parties and did not give me the support to be better clothed, instead, I was always left to wear raggedy clothes. The night I had enough with my father had restricted me to attend any parties in high school, I mentioned it to my mom, and she helped me escape from that restricted living conditions by allowing me to go to that high school party. Although I did not have the correct clothing attire, my mother took me to the mall and told me I could get anything I needed.
Comparing and Contrasting Senora Ines and Rosaura In the short story “The Stolen Party”, Rosaura and Senora Ines impression on why Rosaura was invited to the party is completely different yet similar. “You know what you are to them, the maid's daughter”, her mother had said. Rosaura thought that she was invited to the “rich people’s” party because she was Luciana friend, but on the other hand, Senora Ines invited her to be a helper at the party. Normally, people only get invited to parties if you are a friend.
Rosaura is an inexperienced, innocent girl that follows her own beliefs and her own values. Even though Rosaura’s mother doesn’t want her going to her friend Luciana’s birthday party, Rosaura doesn’t obey. Rosaura later ends up learning that she was only invited to the party as an employee. During the party Rosaura was asked to do chores such as serving cake, and orange juice. Rosaura found the party to be entertaining, but later realized she was only a “pet”.
In The Stolen Party By Liliana Heker, the author uses symbolism, hyperbole, and personification to address that someone can misunderstand reality. In the story the author shows how the main character Rosara, the daughter of a maid was invited to a birthday party for a different reason then she thought. When the character was invited she thought it was because she was a friend of the birthday girl, rosara had little to not reason to think she wasn't a friend of her. The author says in the text that they do homework together everyday after school, showing they do know each other very well. This evidence will support my claim up above.
Consequently, this evidence reveals that Rosaura thought that Senora Ines was going to give her a yo-yo and a bracelet, but, Senora Ines gave her money and she called her “pet” because she was used as a pet, was not invited as a guest. The short story suggests the guests of the party, the rich people, are treating Rosaura and her mother differently as a pet, like as discrimination. Moreover, the short story states, “ And you? Who are you?” , “I’m a friend of Luciana”, said Rosaura.
