Do you think you could survive a plane crash and spend days in the wilderness? Well, in the book ¨Hatchet¨ by Gary Paulsen is a action packed book with lots of twists and turns including events like plane crashes to! I think the theme of "Hatchet" is to persevere through life even if itś very hard. I think this because Brian had to survive a plane crash and live by himself on an island with nothing but a little food and wood. This shows that and perservering through life is most likely the theme. Brian Robeson is a 13 year old boy from New York City whoś going on a plane to see his father for the summer months because his Mom and Dad were divorced. Before Brian got on the plane, he was given an object called a Hatchet from his mom. Once …show more content…
One horrific day, Brian saw his own mom on a date with a stranger who he discovered to be the person his mom was now dating. Brian got tears in his eyes just thinking of that day. There was so much stress and pain in his heart. While flying in the plane, Brian thought back to old memories and then he suddenly noticed an unusual smell coming from the pilot. At first, Brian thought it was just something the pilot ate, until he saw him grabbing his chest in agony. Brian knew something was wrong and he was right. The pilot had gone silent and wasn´t breathing anymore. Brian touched his chest to feel the pilot's heartbeat. Brian was struck with fear as he realized that the pilot was dead and he was left to land the plane by himself. Soon after, Brian realized the plane was running out of gas and he needed to land it. Brian looked for places to land the plane on the ground, but all he saw was bodies of water. After a bit of quick thinking, Brian had decided to land the plane in the smallest lake possible. The landing was rough and he hit his head very hard on the steering of the plane. Brian began to swim to shore and found a shelter. He was so exhausted and sore that he fell asleep until the next afternoon. When he
Out of nowhere the pilot has a heart attack. Brian does a crash landing in a small L shaped lake. If I was in his shoe I would do things differently. While crashing I got the hatchet. (Splash) I immediately got out of the plane swam to the top and then swam to shore.
Nobody prepares for or expects to end up in this situation. To survive in the wilderness all alone with no prior training and no supplies except for a hatchet for fifty-four days is quite an extraordinary feat. This is exactly what thirteen year old Brian Robeson from Gary Paulsen’s book Hatchet accomplishes. His plane crashes and he manages to stay alive against all odds. After roughly two months, he is rescued and taken back to civilization.
In Gary Paulsen’s fascinating novel, Hatchet, Brian Robeson learns a very important lesson while stuck in the harsh Canadian Wilderness. Before he crashed he was a happy boy with his mom. He was on his way to the airport to visit his dad, but the plane he was traveling in, crashed. This is how he was stuck in the unfamiliar forest. He had to adapt to his surroundings because he was native to the city, not the forest.
An important event in Hatchet was when Brian made a raft and went out to the plane to get the survival kit. Brain had seen the plane out at the lake after the tornado, and He wanted to go out there and see want was on the plane. He was thinking about it then he remembered that the survival kit was out there so he really wanted to go and get it, but something bad happened. When he got out there he was hitting the side of the plane (which was very easy), but he dropped his hatchet. But he got it, and opened the plane and had seen the dead pilot.
Now Brian is forced to fly the plane and crashes in some lake then swims and saves himself. He may not be picked up that day or any day so it leaves brian alone to survive and live on his own. He is not prepared for anything like this and does not know how to survive in the wilderness. Which will change his life forever. I found that all in the text that he has crashed and has already been the first day of the crash.
Hatchet is a wonderful book because of a man named Gary Paulsen. He wrote the book after a life-changing experiences. One day in the text it said that Gary Paulsen was volunteering to answer emergency calls and woman called and said “please come quick.” When he got to the house a man was having a heart attack. After that day he started writing a survival story called Hatchet.
The plot of Hatchet centres on a young middle class child who manages to survive in the forest after a plane accident. His capacity to adapt to his newfound seclusion and use the environment around him to his advantage are essential for his survival. A privileged teen kid travels on a massive living city in the science fiction book Worldshaker, on the other hand. The protagonist is able to face a new social standard as well as his own beliefs through his struggles and discoveries in a culture that is drastically different from the ones he has earlier considered. In the end, both of these works act as effective examples of a lesson about respecting people for who they are and accepting their
If people give up all the time individuals will never get far in life or become successful, but if people try their best until people get better or at least try, people are less likely to fail. To begin, in the realistic fiction novel, Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, there is a kid named Brian Robeson whose parents are divorced. So he gets on a plane to go see his dad, but usually stays mainly with his mom. When he goes on the plane for the first time since the divorce his plane crashes in the middle of a forest. Brian has to learn how to survive in the wilderness and hope he gets saved.
The Hatchet is a intense survival story. The main character Brian is trapped in a forest after a bad plane crash. In the story, Brian used three survival strategies to lead him to staying alive in the forest and being able to face any challenges of survival. The strategies used are Trial and Error, Positive Thinking, and Observation. In the next paragraphs I will talk about the three main survival strategies Brian used to survive the forest.
Hatchet, the book, did a better job at telling the story than “A Cry in the Wild”. In my opinion, Hatchet did a better job at telling the story because it gives you more details. In Hatchet they use a lot of imagery. You can actually imagine what they are talking about without actually seeing it. In both, Hatchet and “A Cry in the Wild” they use foreshadowing.
In my opinion, Hatchet does a better job explaining the story way more effectively than the movie “A Cry In The Wild”. Now, I do have some reasoning behind my opinion. What you thought I was going to explain?! To begin with, there are some phenomenal imagery, details, and foreshadowing in the book rather than in the movie. For example, the book shows what Brian is seeing and reacting during the pilot’s heart attack.
In my opinion think Hatchet does a better job of telling the story than A cry in the wild. I believe this because the narrator gives more details when he describe when Brian got into the plane. The narrator said Brian needed to build a raft. For example, the narrator said “ Brian build a raft “on page 159. In the movie it didn’t really show Brian building the raft.
In my opinion Hatchet explains the story better using imagery and foreshadowing. For example when Brian was eating the raspberries he told us that they were tangy, sweet, juicy, and ripe which helped me almost be able to taste the berries. When Brian from, “A Cry In The Wild”ate the fish he just talked to himself I couldn’t paint a picture in my head or even almost taste it, it really didn’t describe the fish or use imagery. When Brian in hatchet ate the fish he told us it was greasy, flaky smelled good, and tasted so good. I could almost smell and taste the fish this is where he used imagery again.
CASTAWAY The movie Castaway was released on 22nd of December 2000 first in the USA and directed by Robert Zemeckis. ‘Hatchet’ is the first book from the Hatchet series written by Gary Paulsen and was first written in 1989. Both of the text have many similarities relating to the setting, characteristics but also many differences.
All the while, Brian is counting on rescuers showing up at any time. When a rescue plane does fly overhead, though, Brian misses it, seeing it just in time to watch it fade off into the distance. Brian 's reaction, understandably, is not pretty. He was screaming, cursing at god, crying. He was not a happy camper.
