Surely, the British troops at the Battle of New Orleans would have been grateful for current technology to inform that the war was already over. Their loss at this historic battle serves as a basis for comparing the efficiency of the technological changes in transportation, industry and communication, of the following years. Although these changes connected the nation’s regions to each other, it concurrently intensified the differences of early American societies.
The War of 1812 was in itself a catalyst for the shift in the political dynamics of the Democratic-Republicans and the Federalist Party. The trade restrictions that were the British Orders in Council and French Continental System not only challenged America’s neutrality stance but also the political parties’ economic and military stances in order to align with their overarching self-interests. The war waged by Madison against the British was welcomed by Democratic-Republicans concentrated in the South and West, and rejected by the dying Federalists in New England. Formerly against a large military and advocates of a peaceful and neutral foreign policy, the Democratic-Republicans became the ones campaigning for war whereas Anglophile Federalists
The War of 1812 Documentary Notably, the documentary shows how the glories of war became enshrined in history. On the other hand, the documentary shows how people easily forget the failures and how truths are forever ignored. With its spectacular re-enactments, suggestive animation and the perceptive commentary of the key experts, the war of 1812 presented the strange and awkward conflict that strived in shaping the destiny of the continent. Nearly two centuries after the war, the was a comprehensive history that was forged after the two-and-a-half-year clash. The War of 1812 was more significant for the Canadians. This was for a myriad of reasons. It had lasting consequences on the people, symbolic and historical issues, and the war was more significant and beneficial for the Canadians. Even though the Canadians dealt with extreme hardship, trauma, and loss of family and friends, in the end they came together as a nation and reflected on their own victories. This quote was spoken by Amelia Ryerse who was at the time, a settler living on Niagara-on-the-lake.
During the War of 1812 there were two naval battles that were important to the outcome of the war. Both battles took place in freshwater far away from the ocean and the more well known single ship duels between the United States frigates and the British ships, and both had a lasting impact on the war. The first was the Battle of Lake Erie on September 10, 1813 under the command of Oliver Hazard Perry five schooners, three brigs and a sloop captured and defeated two ships, two schooners, a brig and a sloop of the Royal Navy at Put-in-Bay in Lake Erie off the coast of Ohio. The Battle lasted for hours and Perry’s flagship Lawrence was demolished causing him to transfer to the Niagara.
The War of 1812 was pretty eventful. Some of the main reasons it started was because the British were capturing American sailors and making them work for them, and they wanted American ships to stop in Britain and pay a tax if they wanted to share merchandise with any other European countries. This obviously made James Madison, the president at the time, mad so then he told Congress that he wanted to declare war. At first congress said no, but eventually Madison got his war.

Just 29 years after the American Revolutionary War, America and Great Britain were back to butting heads. This time it was not over the matter of independence, but over a cluster of reasons. Little by little, the British were starting to disturb the Americans. These reasons included British attempts to restrict U.S. trade, the Royal Navy’s impressment of American seamen and the arming of Native Americans. During the war, the Canadians sided with the British while the indians chose to fight on both sides.
The War of 1812, also called the Second War of Independence, began June 18, 1812 and ended February 18, 1815. The two year and eight month war began for a number of reasons; trade restrictions, the impressments of American merchant sailors, British support of Indian tribes against American expansion, and the possibility of America’s interest in annexing British territory in modern-day Canada. The British Empire attacked from Canada on foot and on water via Lake Champlain. These attacks were held back by the Americans However, a naval force successfully landed in the Chesapeake Bay area. This force advanced on Washington, which was the capitol of America.
