What Freedom Means to Me
On November 19, 1863, Abraham Lincoln said, “Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.” This quote was the beginning of the freedom that this nation wanted and now has because of veterans who risk their lives for us everyday. To me, the two most important freedoms are Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Education. These don’t need to be capitalized.
According to the Bill of Rights, Freedom of Speech means the right to communicate one's opinions and ideas without fear of government punishment or restriction. Americans use this freedom for everything we do. Americans can protest their disapprovals of government to make the nation better. Voting also helps Americans show Freedom of Speech, by voting who would be a good president, governor, senator, mayor, and many more people that want to help the United States be a better nation. Freedom of speech also comes in everyday lives with conversations. Saying your own opinion to others might give them ideas for new things. Freedom of Speech is very important because it gives us the chance to state our own opinions.

Freedom of Education is the right for parents to have their child, girl or boy, to be educated without being restrained by the Nation state. In some countries, females are not allowed to be educated. In Pakistan, Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head by a Taliban man because she was fighting for the right to be educated. She survived this incident and has won the Nobel Peace Prize because of her story. This story reminds me not to take education for granted, but to be grateful for our nation for giving us females this
I feel like without this freedom, there would be much anger among the people. This would cause more trouble in the country also. Second, freedom of speech is important because we can express our individuality. With our opinions, we can give others ideas, and maybe change their opinions.
The First Amendment states, “Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech.” Freedom of Speech helps those who need help and can ask the public without worry of getting in trouble. This amendment was included in the Constitution because now people e the right to advertise their work to others and have protests to things that they believe is right for the country. The amendments were important to the framers of the Constitution. The Freedom of Speech was important to the framers because of, “its diffusion of liberal sentiments on the administration of Governments.”
Freedom of speech is a right that was given to Americans some time ago. It is the most cherished right Americans have. People would not be able to express themselves without it. They would not be the same person without it. In Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbur, the lack of speech was protrayed through the characteristics of Guy Montags job as a Fireman and their society and government.
The freedom of speech is important because it gives us the ability to express our thoughts and opinions. (Cite) Magazine editor, Rachael Jolley said, “ Free speech has always been important throughout history because it had been used to fight for change. When we talk about rights today they would not have been achieved without free speech. Think about a time from the past-women not being able to vote, or the terrible working conditions in the mines- free speech is important as it has helped change these things.” Most people take the freedom of speech for granted because they do not realize how privileged we are to have
Patriots pen “What does freedom mean to me” What freedom means to me might be more than you think it means to you. There’s freedom were your parent’s will let you go out and hang with friend all night and run the streets at twelve at night and get the cops called on you and there’s a kind where you get released from slavery or chores,or homework. When most people think of freedom that’s what they think of that, but when other people think of it I think of war, slavery, and kidnaped kids. Why I think it’s these reasons is because I have family that has been in a war. That,s why I think of war, slavery, kidnappings, poverty, and probably worst then that
Being an American can mean different things to different people, but at its center, it is about being part of a nation that values freedom, equality, and diversity. One of the most important aspects of being American is our value of freedom. This includes the freedom of speech, religion, and expression, as well as the right to own property and pursue happiness. This commitment to freedom is reflected in our country’s founding documents, such as the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, which establish the basic principles of our government and guarantee individual liberties to all citizens. The United States of America is a country that is built upon a foundation of unique values and principles.
And if you can say what you what that you can have opinion, debates, controversial movies and tv shows, and protests. Although there are different freedoms for free media and peaceful protest, if there was not a freedom of speech then these other freedoms would not work properly.
Freedom of speech is one of the many essential core values that The United States of America was founded on. The United States Constitution and Bill of Rights prohibits the United States government from making laws which may infringe on our natural right to free speech. Without free speech, our generation and future generations alike would lack intellectual vitality. Although we still have some restrictions of what content is allowed on the media, opinions, thoughts, and ideas can all be presented clearly through press. Lastly, freedom to assemble and to petition the government was added so that the government could not take away the citizen’s rights to assemble and petition, which was done in 1774 after the Boston Tea Party.
