Who is ultimately responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths? When we say we can help, what do we mean when we talk about ‘helping’ ? In definition about help is “make it easier or possible for someone to do something by offering one's services or resources”. When it comes to this topic, some might argue that Nurse just wanted to help, but I believe that Nurse is ultimately responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths because she secretly holds the relationship between Romeo and Juliet but then give up and has an attitude that shows she doesn’t care about anything. To begin, Nurse should be responsible for Romeo and Juliet's death because she secretly holds the relationship between Romeo and Juliet, but then give up helping Juliet after problems …show more content…
She said, "To comfort you. I wot well where he is. Hark ye, your Romeo will be here at night. I'll to him; he is hid at Laurence' cell” (3.5 222-223). After Romeo is in trouble, and the relationship between Romeo and Juliet has become a problem, Nurse should find a solution by telling everything to their parents, not keep secretly holding the relationship between them. She is not their parents. Any steps or decisions that she makes may cause problems, and if these problems are out of control, she will be the person that is responsible for it. Therefore, I think Nurse should be reasonable about Romeo and Juliet's death because she agrees and keeps holding the secret relationship between Romeo and Juliet. After Romeo had been punished, and Juliet’s parents want Juliet to marry Paris, Nurse went to Juliet's room and …show more content…
When Juliet wants to listen to what Remeo tells Nurse, she says, “Sweet, sweet, sweet Nurse tell me, what did my love Romeo say?” (2.5 53). Although some people will argue that Nurse just wants to help so that they can be happy ever after, In fact, no one will sacrifice their time and help others doing things that are not right for no reason, there must be something that he or she wants. Since Nurse wants to be the only window between Romeo and Juliet, so they will definitely rely on Nuse. As a result, Nurse can create an unbreakable relationship with Romeo and Juliet. But because Nurse is just an employee, she should only do her job well, not thinking about becoming an important window or creating a relationship with her boss'
The Nurse helped out Juliet when her Parents could not. “As I told you my young lady bade me inquire you out; what she bade me say, I will keep to myself”(Act II.II.148-149). The Nurse has offered to keep the secret of the marriage between the two young ones and she will not tell anyone about it. After the Nursze comes back from visting Romeo she finds ways to not tell Juliet the good news instead she starts talking about other things, the Nurse also knows how delighted juliet will be once when she finds out about the wedding “Your love says, like an honest gentleman, and a courteous, and a kind,...where is your mother?”(Act II.II.55-57). The day of Mercutio and Tybalt 's death she did not think Romeo would do such a thing, and now her thoughts about Romeo have changed instead she thinks Romeo would end up hurting her young lady.
This ruins their relationship and Juliet loses complete faith in Nurse. These are the reasons why Friar Laurence and Nurse are responsible for the unfortunate deaths of Romeo and Juliet. One of the many reasons Friar Laurence is held responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet is that it was Friar’s idea for Romeo and Juliet to get married. Friar Laurence is naïve and believes this union could help bring the families together, but does not take into consideration that the families truly have a terrible rivalry.
This goes against what she originally thought. This causes Juliet to be alone because the relationship ended between her and the person closest to her. Without the nurse juliet made poor choices with the Friar. In conclusion, the nurse is one of the major causes of Romeo and Juliet’s
The Nurse could be responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, but the one who is most to blame is the Friar. The Friar is mostly to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because he married Romeo and Juliet, left Juliet alone in the tomb, and made the plan for Romeo to come back to Verona and bring Juliet to Mantua with him. To start, Friar is mostly to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because he married Romeo to Juliet. For example, “Come, come with me, and we will make short work, For by your leaves, you shall not stay alone Till Holy Church incorporates two in one.”
The nurse is the best character in Romeo and Juliet. She cares the most about Romeo and Juliet. The nurse is the only character that unselfishly cares about Juliet. Romeo cares about her for her physical appearance, her mom doesn’t really know her very well, her dad isn’t a huge part of her life either, and without the nurse, Juliet would be pretty much alone in the world. She also cares about Juliet’s love of Romeo, however, which makes her care about him.
It also shows that she is like a mother to Juliet, overjoyed and happy for her daughter to have found a man. A second excerpt about how much she cares for Juliet can be found in act three, scene five, when she advises Juliet when speaking about her marriage to Romeo, “I think it best you married the County. O, he’s a lovely gentleman! Romeo’s a dishclout to him,” (3*5*218-220). This explains to the reader that the nurse does not approve of Romeo as she believes that Juliet will not be happy with him, and should instead marry the Count, who will provide for her with ease.
In William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet, Romeo is to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death because he should’ve never been at the party to see Rosaline, he is also reckless. While some may argue that the Nurse is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet’s death because when she saw Romeo and Juliet kissing she decided not to tell their parents and make a plan to get together without the parents knowing. At the beginning of the play, Romeo is talking to a servant of the Capulet family. The servant doesn’t know that Romeo is a part of the Montague family that has been fighting for years. Within a scene in the play, Romeo is talking to the servant of the Capulet, he says “ Now I’ll tell you without asking.
The first responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet is The Nurse. The nurse is responsible by keeping secrets from the capulets. As its states on page 62 “ His name is romeo and he is a Montague, the only son of your greatest enemy”. This shows that The Nurse wants Juliet to be happy, so she decides to keep Juliet's lover a secret from the rest of the family. After the death of Tybalt The Nurse was sick of all the chaos, so she tells Juliet to marry Paris to end it all.
The Nurse, a trusted confidant of Juliet’s mother, becomes a mentor to Juliet as she helps her navigate the complexities of her relationship with Romeo. As she says, “I’ll lay fourteen of my teeth, And yet, to my teen be it spoken, I have but four, She is not fourteen” (Act 1, Scene 3). The Nurse’s willingness to offer her support to Juliet, even at the cost of her own comfort, speaks to her dedication to the young girl’s well-being.
(2.4.168-173) The Nurse actually gave thought to Juliet’s well-being unlike the Friar, who remained ignorant to the dangers of Romeo and Juliet’s relationship. Following Romeo’s exile, the Nurse promised Juliet that she would seek him out to “... comfort [Juliet]. I wot well where he is. Hark ye, your Romeo will be here at night.
(Shakespeare 2.4 - 415). This quote shows the way the nurse receives the information right from Romeo to then take to Juliet. she does this multiple times and also can be seen basically planning some events like the marriage. The Nurse is the most important character for exchanging information between Romeo and Juliet due to her love for
It would have been impossible for Juliet to even communicate with Romeo if it weren’t for the nurse. The nurse blindly followed Juliet's orders without thinking of the results her words and actions could cause. Juliet looks up to the nurse who has taken care of her for years. When the nurse provides Juliet with no initial guidance Juliet is forced into making the decision of staying loyal to her husband or staying with her
The nurse should have stopped Romeo and Juliet’s relationship. She should have interfered with their relationship because as Juliet’s nurse, she should have Juliet's best interest and be looking out for her. Instead of interfering, the nurse encouraged their relationship by keeping it a secret. The nurse warns Romeo not to deceive Juliet, but she never physically takes action to stop their relationship. Therefore, the nurse is also responsible for the tragedy of Romeo and
“Romeo and Juliet”Final Essay, The Relationship of Juliet And Her Nurse The relationship between Juliet and her Nurse portrayed in Romeo and Juliet has a different perspective from the classic young love genre. The Nurse is portrayed as loving as a parent, during her hardest times the Nurse gave motherly support and provided comfort from her confusion. Her Nurse appeared more in her time of trouble than her beloved Romeo and Lady Capulet. “Thou wast the prettiest babe that e’er I nursed.
Lastly, Shakespeare uses Romeo and Juliet to show true love. Nurse shows parental love to Juliet throughout the play. Despite being a servant to the Capulet household, she has a role equivalent to that of Juliet’s mothers and regards Juliet as her own. Even with the fact that Nurse is not the birth mother of Juliet, she still treats Juliet like a daughter. Nurse cares about Juliet and wants her to be happy and find success.”
