What Freedom Means to Me By Yascha Day What freedom means to me is that I can roam the streets freely and happily. I think that I can be in the USA without the fear of losing my freedom and being sold into slavery like they did even a couple hundred years ago. I am glad for my freedom and safety. Freedom is a very strong word and it means being free like the ocean and free to move around. I think that as an American child living in Europe it is a privilege. But as an African-American boy it is even more a privilege because in the recent past I would not have been able to live in Europe. Like Martin Luther King Jr. said “I have a dream that one day little black boys and little white boys will be together”. Freedom comes from a very long time
Freedom can have many meetings to many people. Freedom to some may mean to be free in a trapped society filled with rules and regulations. Freedom can be revealed to the naked eye in things such as laws, organizations, and even clubs. Freedom to me is living your life however you choose, wherever you choose, and whenever you choose to do so. Angela Davis had once lost those privileges.
Nobody has been given freedom without a fight b
The concept of freedom has a deep root in human history. Since ancient times, people perceive that they are created as free individuals. They looked up their liberty even by wars to remove any coercion, restraints and regulations on their actions. People’s liberty has a substantial role in their lives. Free people employ the power of nature and harness it to dominate the earth.
When I think of this, it makes me think of all the patriots, marines, and soldiers that have fought for freedom, all the people that have died trying to fight for this, but… we manage to get what we deserve. When I think of freedom I think of people, like Martin Luther King Jr. when he said the “I Have A Dream” speech risking his life trying to have equal rights and freedom for his color of skin. Or like when George Washington led his army in 1776 to
Webster Dictionary defines freedom as a “political right”. To me, freedom is much more than that. Freedom gives me and the people of America the right to do anything we want; it allows us to be ourselves no matter where you come from, or who you are. Unfortunately, America has not always been this way; people of different races were treated like trash on the sidewalk. Frederick Douglass had a first-hand experience to this treatment, and he knew what it was like before America allowed everyone to actually be “free”.
This statement describes how a person is born to be free, yet some people and events take this right away. People of higher power can grant freedom, but they can also take those freedoms away. Freedom is something that once you win once, you shouldn 't have to win it again. Yet, many people are very subservient to the fact that even if they gain freedom once, they have to regain it again. This then creates conflicts such as, racism, prejudice, caste systems, and other things of that nature. However, the matter of the fact is that once you gain freedom once, a person shouldn 't have to earn it again. This is true because countries usually do not have to obtain their independence from their mother countries once they acquire it once.
The first time I ever experienced freedom was when I came to America. Sometimes freedom ain 't really for all, you still have to follow all rules, and obey your parents. The word *Freedom* means to me is that you may have the right to do what you think is right, and you don’t really have to be one of those people out there that have no right. Even if you don’t have any right you can always dream, and experienced from the people around you, and your friends. When people always tell me what’s right, or wrong, that annoys me.
Freedom is the ability to love whomever we want, It is when you give without expecting a favor, It is the power to forgive when you've been mistaken, it is the capability to do right without being proud of it. To me Freedom is America, Freedom is the 13 horizontal stripes and the 50 stars waving in the wind, and finally Freedom is for everyone to be equal, yet different in his or her own way. Freedom to me is America, as simple as that. On July 4th, 1776 America gained freedom from Great Britain, for this is one of the most important dates in American history.

Freedom is our right but it becomes a privilege when we are faced with restrictions. We sometimes have to fight for our rights and work hard to gain privilege. We have fought many wars to gain freedom, such as the Civil War of 1861, where the fight was to earn the right to live freely and be treated as equal.
