For example, one can see in the cartoon in source A that Washington is well respected by his army because he treats them with respect and has demonstrated his care for them. More specifically, he often wrote about his concern for his army, whether they were short on men or supplies. Another concern expressed by Washington was that if his army did not receive what it required, Britain would become more reinforced, stronger, and have more people. He was also concerned that his army was failing to live up to good public expectations. “If they do not, I fear—I am satisfied the Troops will never be in a situation to answer the public expectation and perform the duties required of them.” Source B. Both sources demonstrate George Washington's concern for his Continental Army. Though these sources demonstrate Washington's concern, they also demonstrate the way his army treats him, with respect and …show more content…
For starters, when France and Britain were at war, George Washington wanted to remain neutral because he believed that if he became involved in a European war, it would soon reach American grounds or the United States would be destroyed by separation (Political Cartoon Source C). This demonstrates his concern for America's future and independence. Furthermore, one way Washington worked to create a good government for future leaders in his position was to warn them to "steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world" (Source D). This quote indicates avoiding any country that is not America. Washington was concerned that any long-term alliances might pose a problem for the United States in the future, and that if they did not follow his advice, the United States would be destroyed. This demonstrates that he is a great leader because he cares about more than just his position as president, but for every position after him. In both sources, George Washington asks that any alliances or connections outside of America be avoided because he wants to maintain their independence and keep war off American grounds. Another point to mention is that both sources portray George Washington as an excellent role model for future presidents. These sources demonstrate George Washington's desire for
Washington wanted to protect his reputation, he worried about it often. He had high expectations to live up to and he didn’t want to disappoint his people. Although, many people at the time were quite disappointed after they talked with him because he didn’t have a lot to say and he wasn’t considered an “intellectual” (33). But what he lacked he made up for in the way he executed his decisions. Washington was a superb military leader being the commander in chief.
Though Washington saw that in gaging in war was not in the best intrest of the nation. Which results in the Proclamtion of Neutrallty, which said the U.S would remain neutral in affairs of war. This is where his crisis leadership were great, the way he had the forsieght to see that it would not be good for the U.S. Also to go againist the peoples wishes afterall the president speaks for the people is a bold move. Which speaks volumes Washington was commited to see the Nation

A leader is defined as one who mobilizes other toward a goal shared by leader and followers. That is what General George Washington did during the Revolutionary War that began on April 19, 1775 to September 3, 1783. General George Washington had been selected to be a Commander in Chief of the Continental Army. Throughout the era of the War, General Washington has proved himself to be a formidable leader that made him recognizable in a much later life such as his presidential selection. If it weren’t for General George Washington reshaping the life during the Revolutionary between the British and the Americans, America would have not be what it is.
Looking through the years that the United States has been around the improvement of the country has been greatly positive. Through the troubles, wars, and depressions the leadership qualities of one major individual had the greatest influence on the country. The way that George Washington led the country was a major influence on American History. Through his years as general against the British, to leading the country to victory at Yorktown, to his terms as president, Washington led the country and made a major influenced influence on the modern day government.
Washington suggested improving foreign commercial affairs that could be mutually beneficial to both parties involved, all while keeping as little political connection with others as possible seeing as they little to nothing to do with American interests. Although now controversial, a few Americans still recognize Washington's words as wise and perhaps the best policy to refer to when making international decisions, that the United States should withdraw from foreign affairs whenever possible. In our modern day setting, however this is not the case. In the name of global good as opposed to our own good we have recklessly implanted ourselves into world government.
George Washington was a great leader. He had shown his leadership skills in many ways throughout his life, but mainly when he stepped into the role of president. In my opinion, George Washington was the best president the United States of America has ever had because he was the first president. He stepped into a completely new role in a new government system, set precedents for the role, and led our country diplomatically. While Washington was not perfect, as no human being is, he was a great president and proved so in his eight years in office.
He endured numerous setbacks and defeats but remained resolute in his belief that freedom for the colonies could be achieved. This commitment inspired others to follow him and fight for their shared vision of a free America. George Washington's leadership during the American Revolution was characterized by his ability to motivate troops, strategic thinking, discipline, personal integrity, and unwavering commitment to the cause. These qualities were instrumental in securing America's victory over Great Britain and continue to inspire people today. By studying his leadership style, future generations can learn valuable lessons about what it takes to lead effectively in times of
The United States foreign policy has been greatly influenced throughout history. George Washington’s farewell address layed out important guidelines in how we handle foreign alliances. For example, George Washington stated that we should not forge alliances with other countries. I
The final piece of advice given by George Washington is to stay neutral when it comes to foreign affairs. The country should not be too loyal to one particular country, and should not neglect any other: “Observe good faith and justice towards all nations...to lay hold of slight causes of umbrage... likewise, a passionate attachment of one nation for another produces a variety of evils(4th paragraph). If the country is too loyal to another, they could trick the U.S. and benefit from our mistake. The people should treat all countries equally so there is no conflict.
While also keeping in mind he set a key example for the presidents of the United States to come in the future. Making sure that every move he made, speech he spoke would be perfect, and be a key example for the future. While also remembering that sometimes you had step out of your comfort zone to make sure that everyone was happy even though sometimes you think it is not right you have to keep the point of view of others in mind to have a healthy and happy government. Also keeping in mind that your military reflects your country and who you are as a president, knowing that he had to keep a powerful image he created one of the strongest military foundations in history making the United States military strong, dominant, intimidating, and smart. This showed how our country was lead by a true patriot, hero, and genius, George Washington, one of the greatest presidents of all of time in the United States
Throughout the many periods of history, there have been many great leaders in the United States, such as the presidents and many reformers of movements. These powerful and courageous people led to many changes within the nation that better the country. Great men exist regardless of the time period or region they live in, but history tends to only recognize them and highlight their contributions to society during a time of crisis. However, great men begin as regular men, but they must work their way through a social status rank in order to be deemed as credible. One of the most widely known leaders of the United States is the first president, George Washington who served from 1789 to 1797.
George Washington is an iconic figure in American history and world history. He is celebrated for his leadership qualities and contributions to the American Revolution, as well as for being the first President of the United States. Washington's leadership abilities were evident from his youth, where he gained a reputation for his work ethic and determination as a surveyor and skilled horseman. He utilized these qualities to serve in the Virginia militia and later played a significant role in several battles during the French and Indian War, which provided him with valuable military experience.
Being a good leader does not necessarily mean shining in the spotlight. Some of the most revolutionary and successful leaders are the ones who worked the lights. Self-awareness, self-direction, vision, ability to motivate, and social awareness are the characteristics of a good leader according to SIY Leadership Institute (SIYLI). There have been many accomplished and renowned leaders in America since (and before) the 1770’s, ones whose names are universally known and others who are unfamiliar. Of the latter is Alexander Hamilton, who showed potential since the minute he was put on earth, for no matter what obstacles were thrown in his way he forged ahead and never threw away his shot.
Out of the three that are listed here I think that his part in the American Revolution was the most important. Without him we wouldn’t have a leader, nor would we have continued to fight on. This was the first step to our new nation and without him we would have given up/still be under British rule. People like Washington have given people a voice and has motivated them throughout the years. He had kept our hopes up whenever we felt the need to give up and because of his role/actions we are our own
