Thomas Jefferson was a man with many talents and gifts. By some opinions he is one of the greatest people to walk American soil and become President. He did many great things in life, things that impacted people’s lives and way of thinking greatly. This research project is going to show just a few of his many accomplishments that he achieved as President.
Success #1- The United States Military Academy is Born
Thomas Jefferson was I feel like a man that liked to work and seldom took breaks. That is shown when he creates the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, New York, on July 4, 1802 only a few months after his inauguration March 4, 1801. It has also produced many famous generals, 75 Medal of Honor beneficiaries and counting. It has been producing soldiers from the Civil War to World War II. It has become another stone it what makes the United States great. It is also one of many great accomplishments that Thomas Jefferson has achieved for this great nation. The United States Military Academy continues to grow thanks to Thomas Jefferson. This accomplishment will go down in history as one of the greatest ever.

Success #2- The Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase as we all know was a major part of United States history. This purchase nearly doubled the size of the United States producing 15 present-day states. This entire purchase cost about 15 million dollars or about 3 cents an acre. This purchase was widely praised and criticized. Obviously, by Jefferson and his supporters, Jefferson himself called it, “an ample provision for our posterity and a widespread field for the blessings of freedom.” Meaning it …show more content…

During the discussion with France to acquire the Louisiana Territory the United States knew very little about the territory. They barely knew the boundary and it eventually took the Adams-Onis Treaty and the Convention of 1818, to really now the actually boundary of the Louisiana Purchase. First, Spain and the United States argued over if Florida was actually part of the Louisiana Purchase and as it was said before it took the Adams-Onis Treaty a few years later to establish the southernmost point of the Louisiana Purchase and another problem with Great Britain arose and it was about if the Oregon County was considered part of the Louisiana Purchase as it was also said before it took the Convention of 1818, to solve the issue and finally both parties agreed upon the 49th parallel to be the northern most boundary. Even before all the problems with Great Britain and Spain arose about where the boundary should be set, Thomas Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark to explore and claim their newly acquired land. They obviously had some help along the way with their travel guide Sacagawea. Without her the expedition probably would’ve have failed.
