Someone very famous in history once said "Determine never to be idle... It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing." Who would not agree with that? Being active gives you an opportunity to stop be bored with your life, you will accomplish more and you can try new things. One reason why being active is important is to stop being bored. Kids always complain about being bored and having nothing to do when there is plenty of things to do, you just have to go out and do things. From personal experience, being bored is not fun at all. I had cheer everyday, whether it was conditioning, practicing, or having a competition. The reason I loved it so much was I actually went for something and I accomplished a goal with my team and I lost so much weight. I finally stopped being lazy and bored to becoming a state champion and happy with my body! Another reason why being active is key is so you can accomplish your goals. I am pretty positive that almost every person has a goal but how can you accomplish that goal if you are inactive? Exactly, because you cannot do that. When I did competition cheer a year ago, our biggest goal was to win states. Our coach was super hard on us during the season but she only did that because she knew that would push us to do better. Everyday at practice, each person had a minor goal they had to achieve by the end of the night and we had different goals everyday. We all achieved the goals we set for ourselves everyday and that is why we are now state champions. Do you think by being inactive we won the state title? No way possible. I have been cheering for five years now. I can not remember the times when I was not a cheerleader, it is hard to imagine myself doing anything other than cheer or simply not cheering at all. I fell in love with the sport and within time, my passion towards it grew even more. Cheerleading consumed my life, it was my only focus. I was fortunate enough to grow up with coaches that pushed me to reach limits I did not even know I had, as well as teammates whom I shared the same passion towards the sport with.

As a sports team, we obviously have goals; our main reason being to win against our opponents. The entire reason a team is put together and participating in practice almost every day is going towards our goal as a team to win games. Aside from our goal of winning our games, my volleyball team also worked our way to going to districts—where the top teams go to play against each other for the title of district champions. Then, if we were to make it past districts, we would participate in trying to win states—another tournament that multiple winners of different districts come together to compete against each other. Joining the volleyball team for me was for my personal enjoyment and to get involved in my high school community.
