Physical therapy is part of rehabilitative medicine using hands on therapy to help patients improve their physical abilities. Rehabilitative medicine treats many medical conditions that have to do with ligaments, bones, muscles, and tendons. Physical therapists can be found in a variety of facilities such as hospitals, private offices, health agencies, and outpatient clinics. Seeing people in pain and not being able to do their daily routines is extremely devastating. Being able to help them recover and manage their pain will make me feel amazing. Knowing I can help is always a great feeling. In my personal experience of physical therapy, the therapists always connect with patients. I would love to have the opportunity to do that with people! Five common specialty areas of physical therapy are sport injuries, arthritis, amputations, diseases, and post-operative joints. A reason for physical therapy is to help people with a loss of physical mobility. PTs work with people of all ages. The first thing I will be doing when a patient comes in for the first time is do an evaluation exam. This exam will consist of system reviews, performing tests to find existing and potential issues, and learning the medical history of the patient. Being a physical therapist I need to be able to diagnose dysfunctions with the patient’s body. Then plan techniques and exercises to help the patient get back to their physical ability back to normal. PTs work individually with clients
If an athlete every gets injured then as a physical therapist will assist them and rehabilitate them back to normal. Knowing that I can help an athlete get back on their feet and continue their sport is a great feeling. Helping others in general. The hours physical therapist work depends on the person, but it 's generally hours in the day. They work about 8 to 9 hours.

While in physical therapy you have to follow the process in order to receive the product you want. Within this role, I will be a role model and friend. I will be involved with private practices and nursing homes, working with people of all ages to rehabilitate and return to their normal activities of daily life. Taking the diversity of health care providers into account, I have several experiences that will contribute to the physical therapy profession. The two experiences that will be the most beneficial are witnessing physical therapy as both patient and observer, and understanding how physical therapy interacts with other related professions through my time working in a hospital. The first experience that will have a large impact in the future is having seen both sides of physical therapy, as both a patient and an observer. While in high school and college I had two ACL and Labrum surgeries each, requiring substantial physical therapy.
What I find to be the most enjoyable aspect of physical therapy is finals week. When everybody is scrambling to attain as much knowledge as possible. Our problem base learning program enables us to rely on one another when unable to grasp a certain. I enjoy seeing the different break out tools and the variation of methodologies being used to grasp certain concepts.
