The climax was Brown becomes a completely different person on his return from the forest. During his journey to the forest, he found out that everybody is capable of sin, including his wife Faith and fellow villagers that he is proud. As a result, Brown’s view of his wife and fellow villagers changed forever. The next morning Goodman Brown returns from the forest, and every person he sees seems evil and sinful to him. When he sees Faith, “Goodman Brown looked sternly and sadly into her face, and passed on without a greeting”. According to this quote, in the beginning, Brown doesn 't want to leave Faith and hesitate to go on a journey, but when he returns from the forest his behavior toward Faith has changed. Symbolism through appearance linked the devil and Brown exteriorly while the company he shared with Brown’s family connected them through history. Unnecessary to say, Brown was influenced, at first mistakenly by society’s people through witchcraft and communion. Regardless of purity, no man can live a life that is complete without sin. In the story, Hawthorne successfully shows Brown’s journey into the forest enlightens him to the sin and hypocrisy within all individuals as a result Brown discovers that there is sin in everyone. Faith is a name of a Brown’s wife and also it indicates his religious faith. Forest indicates an evil place where anything can happen. It also represents the Devils forest. The Devil and Brown’s ancestors known each other which indicates the Devil is a mentor of a Brown. Evilness is a nature of a mankind and it is also his happiness.
