Who Can You Talk To?

There are between 12 and 60 different Zapotec languages (there is some dispute about which are dialects, and which are distinct languages.) All together there are at least 400,000 speakers of Zapotec languages in Mexico today. While most speakers of Zapotec are also Spanish-speakers, there are many who only speak Zapotec. Most Zapotec speakers live in Mexico in the state of Oaxaca. Now you can say hello to more than 400,000 people!
