The Aerial Reconnaissance Archives

The Aerial Reconnaissance Archives at Keele University created this website to make Internet-accessible more than 5.5 million aerial photographs taken by the UK Ministry of Defence over occupied Western Europe during World War II. These photos were deposited at the TARA, an official place of deposit for the National Archives. Visitors may register for free to do an online search under "Products and Services".

Art of the First World War

This site commemorates the 80th anniversary of the Armistice through "an exhibition of 110 paintings brought together by the major history museums of Europe. World War I as seen by 54 painters on both sides." The paintings are arranged by painter or grouped chronologically by stages of the war. Text discussing the war and each painter is interspersed throughout the exhibit. Versions of the site are available in English, French, and German.

The Cold War International History Project seeks to reevaluate the history of the Cold War in light of newly -released archival sources, especially from the former Soviet Bloc. Its web site includes all back issues of the CWIHP Bulletin, which contains articles based on the latest in Cold War scholarship as well as newly released documents. Also offers discussion lists, for which registration is required.
