Universal health care is a valuable service and should be available in all countries. In many countries millions of people suffer from not having access to healthcare they deserve or not being able to pay for the healthcare they need. In the states alone, an estimated 50 million people do not have insurance because of the inability to pay for it. Universal health care would be beneficial to all countries because it would not exclude anyone from getting the necessary help, it would prevent the insurance companies from denying care, and it would contribute to preventative care to take place. Firstly, universal health care would allow for everyone to get the necessary care they need regardless of their medical problem or financial background. …show more content…
Preventative care is a huge benefit of universal health care as people can go for regular checkups at a physician 's office to see if they have any problems. Using the preventative care method we are able to catch diseases in their early stages and eliminate them. This will lead to less major emergencies that will have to be looked at in the hospital reducing the costs greatly. In America preventative care is used way less than it should be due to the cost of insurance, “Nationally, Americans use preventive services at about half the recommended rate” (CDC, 2013). Americans not going in to get checked on regularly can cause small illness or diseases to spread or get larger. If this happens the patient might have to go find more intensive care and that would cost more money. This also would benefit the country as they would spend less money fixing these problems as it is very expensive, “Chronic diseases, such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes, are responsible for 7 of every 10 deaths among american each year and account for 75% of the nation’s health spending” (CDC, 2013). That is a large portion of the nation 's money going towards diseases that could have been prevented or reduced if they were seen on a regular
Health care for everyone is able to give people time out of the financial debt if they have no insurance. When you have no insurance you have to pay out of pocket for all doctor visits and also you might be rejected medical help. So when there is everyone on one page with health care you are able to have your finances in tack a little more also if it becomes more inexpensive for the people. Don 't you think that your body is worth the try?The government makes millions dollars of the medical industry weather prescription drugs, insurance companies, and doctor visits. When everyone is the same that means the government would have to set one set prices for everyone to be able to survive financially in it and not everyone is able to go into
Accessibilities to these kinds of services increase the overall health of the general population. With healthier people means longer life expectancies and an overall boost of the economy. It is well proven in medical studies that in a universal health care system, the standard of living of each individual is increased. Studies show that people living healthier lives allows for them to maximize their contribution to society. It is also known that Canadian citizens have the longest life expectancies in the world, higher than the United States of America by three percent.
The real debate is how can we accomplish the goal of universal healthcare in the most affordable and sustainable way. The United States is evaluated as a wealthy country, yet there are more penurious countries who provide health maintenance, paid through higher taxes. “In the United Kingdom and other European countries, payroll taxes average 37% - much higher than the 15.3% payroll taxes paid by the average US worker” (Gregory). With this data, the only reform would be to end the private health insurance companies of dominant health services, and incorporate a single payer system. Conversely, it is factual that taxes will rise, but the implementation of universal healthcare will better the health of American citizens.
The U.S. could follow models of universal healthcare that have been proven to work in other countries, like Canada and Sweden, in which to lay the framework of a new system of universal healthcare. It would provide coverage for citizens of every economic class via whichever avenue of funding proves to be most efficient. The success of universal healthcare in other nations proves that this is an achievable goal, well within the realm of
The United States spends the most money on healthcare than any other country, however the healthcare related results are almost non-existent. Growing healthcare costs continues to surpass the growth of the United States economy, and has been reliably doing so since the 1970’s. The results of the continuous rising healthcare costs jeopardize the economic well being of millions of individuals, families and businesses. Before the implementation of Affordable Care Act, forty million Americans were estimated to be uninsured. The strategic aim of universal health coverage is to ensure that everyone can use the health services they need without risk of financial ruin or impoverishment, no matter what their socio-economic situation.
The implementation of universal healthcare ensures that no American would avoid seeking medical attention due to financial constraints. It would improve life expectancy, reduce infant mortality rates, and enhance overall population health. A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association concluded that the implementation of a single-payer system could save up to $450 billion annually while providing comprehensive coverage to all Americans. However, implementing universal healthcare in America poses significant challenges.
Health care should not be considered a political argument in America; it is a matter of basic human rights. Something that many people seem to forget is that the US is the only industrialized western nation that lacks a universal health care system. The National Health Care Disparities Report, as well as author and health care worker Nicholas Conley and Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP), strongly suggest that the US needs a universal health care system. The most secure solution for many problems in America, such as wasted spending on a flawed non-universal health care system and 46.8 million Americans being uninsured, is to organize a national health care program in the US that covers all citizens for medical necessities.
Most other wealthy and industrialized countries have made significant progress toward having a universal health care system. According to a report from the World Health Organization, “The USA is currently the only high-income country without nearly universal health-care coverage” (Rice et al.). If the US stands out this
The author of “ColoradoCare: [sci] Universal healthcare plan has democrats divided” is Josiah Hesse on Friday, May 20, 2016. The article “ColoradoCare” [sci] is slanted towards the supporting side of universal healthcare. The author only mentions democrats by name and hardly says anything about the republicans. However, you can also tell that the article is bias in the sense that he only talks about all of the politicians who are against the universal healthcare.
Therefore, universal healthcare should be made available for every person regardless if they can afford it or not. Counterargument: P1: Universal healthcare would cause our taxes to go up.
As many as 29,000 children die everyday, 21 minutes apart. The lives of those children could be saved by having free healthcare for everyone. Not just children are being affected by not having insurance, homeless, hard working, and elderly people struggle everyday to survive. Citizens can get free treatments for basic conditions without the fear of not being able to afford them. This can help reduce the spread
There are many advantages in the current health care system such as equal access to health care, better public health and lack of medical bankruptcy and debt for citizens as a result of accessing to health care. However, it has some disadvantages that have resulted in all the debates about Canadian public health care system, such as long waiting lists and downgraded quality. Canada has been known as a country that offers universal health care coverage to all the Canadian citizens. The Universal health care is a type of health care that offers medical services free of charges to every member of the society regardless of their gender, social status, income, race, and wealth. The public health care system allows access to basic health services for all Canadian citizens and it is one of the biggest advantages of Canada among other countries.
In the presence of a free health service helps to boost the economy nation which is a lots of people will raise the standard of living by increase the economic productivity. People will contribute in the economy sector very well if they are healthy. From the source that I get, according to House research Department Universal Health Coverage an Economist Perspective 2007 the author says, health care costs may prevent some individuals from working or seeking higher earnings. Working harder to increase earnings may result in losing their subsidized coverage or having to pay more in premiums. So, the free healthcare for everyone will raise the standard which is can lead more to economic
To start off, basic health care should be free for everyone because it could save lives. On the Huffington Post website, Senator Bernie Sanders wrote an article called, ‘Health care is a Right, Not a Privilege.’ In the article he states,” More than 18,000 Americans die from preventable illnesses because they don’t get to a doctor when they should.” If everyone has free health care, less lives will be lost. More lives of young people would be saved.
This is so because, universal access to health will really do good to the world and it is a Necessity in order to reduce the level of discrimination experienced in terms of finances . Universal access to health will ensure that there will be access to equitable quality health care and will also give security to those who are financially incapable at the present to afford quality health care die to their financial status. Although this may be the case in the future, there will face challenges especially in implementing the regulations that would be set up in order to enable equal distribution of medical resource and
