The National Honor Society contains four qualities which encompasses it. These traits are scholarship, character, service, and leadership. These four pillars define the Honors Society and can also be used to portray myself. The quality of scholarship. Scholarship is defined as a commitment to learning. A person is eager to spend time to learn and nurture his/her mind to grow in knowledge. The person does not look to the reward but does his/her best effort in order to grow in knowledge and understanding. I believe this quality describes me because I am a diligent person. I enjoy learning and sharing my knowledge with others. My preferred subjects are English, History, and Language. I use flashcards as a method of studying and …show more content…
Leadership defined is a person who takes initiative to aid others during their every day activities. They makes sacrifices of their time and personal interests for others. I believe I fit this description because I take time out of my day to help the people around me who need it. I help my sister with her English homework. I also help classmates with their English work. I go to the nursing home with my friend. I enjoy going to the nursing home and seeing all the elderly people who are always so grateful when you help them. I do not have any living grandparents anymore and it always makes me happy to visit the nursing home residents whom treat me like their own grandchild. Leaders are normally thought as confident people. I am a shy person who would not be considered an overly confident person. I do take charge when I am sure that I am best fit for the task at hand. I believe I portray all four qualities of the National Honor Society. I strive through the aspect of scholarship to increase my knowledge. Through character I am driven to make right choices throughout my life. Through service I give back to my community and others. Lastly through leadership I take initiative to help others who are in
There are many people in my life that I know who exemplify the character aspect of National Honor Society, but there is one person who stands out from all the rest. This person is my mother. My mother whose name is Jerilynn Bell has many traits about her that makes her character stand out to me. She is the most selfless, hardworking, and honest person I have ever met. I remember as a kid seeing my mother go to her seven to three job and then come home exhausted.
Henry Ford once said, “Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.” He believed that with determination, struggle, and intellect one can achieve the impossible. By the same token, my perseverance, dedication, and tenacity have allowed me to work with others to achieve a common goal. I strive to become a member of the National Honor Society because I possess qualities of the organization’s Character pillar, which is a worthwhile experience, and have a unique humanitarian service project idea that would follow the pillar of Service. By virtue of my trustworthiness, reliability, and courtesy towards others, I model traits of the National Honor Society's pillar of Character.
The final way that I feel the pillar of service can be applied to my life would be my willingness to help fellow students with programming dilemmas they may have come across while creating a program. At the studio I attended during my freshman year, I was one of the highest programmers at the time, so I was usually one of the first to test the curriculum as a student. Whenever I had the chance or opportunity, I would always try and help younger students who were struggling at the time. Helping these students learn to do something that I had learned to love and enjoy makes me feel fulfilled and lucky to have been able to serve them as I did on several
I am always cheerful in and out of school, and I never try to show anything but cheerfulness towards people. Good character is a very good quality to have as a person, and for NJHS. I have the quality of a good character. I should be National Junior Honor Society because I have good character, citizenship, service, and leadership. I show citizenship in and out of the school every minute.
I will also do my best to show good character, leadership, citizenship, service, and scholarship because I know that these qualities are very important for the National Junior Honors Society and that they are also very important to me. Thank you for your consideration, Katy
I was taught to work hard and never give up. Leadership is also a very important pillar in the National Honor Society. A leader is a person who guides others with their actions or words and influences others in a positive way. I feel that I am a leader in many ways. I participate in many different
Life and Death in Assisted Living Facilities Assisted living facilities are one of the fastest growing industries in the United States. Unfortunately, assisted living facilities have a history of being problematic. Specific cases from the movie Life and Death in Assisted Living Facilities indicates that assisted living facilities are often under staffed, poorly trained, and often admit elderly patients who are not qualified candidates for their facilities (Byker and Thompson, 2013). When taking this in to account, it is important to consider why families may admit their loved ones in to assisted living facilities.
I identify the role of leadership as someone who takes charge and leads by example. Being a leader is someone a person can look up to like a role model. I have demonstrated leadership by how my actions on the field are far greater than my words. By having years of experience I have learned the way to lead is putting in the extra effort, and my accomplishments demonstrate that. In addition to being a player on the field, I took on the important role and responsibility of being an umpire.
It is an extraordinary honor to be considered as a candidate for the National Honor Society. Being considered means I have achieved my goal in demonstrating my determination- in school and outside of school- and my willingness to aid people in my community. Being a part of such a prestigious organization is an enormous responsibility to which I will fully devote my time. Ever since I was a freshman, my goal was to work diligently to be among the highest scholars and to be accepted into this scholarly “hall of fame”. Through my relentless hard work and perseverance, I believe that I possess the four characteristics of a National Honor Society member- leadership, service, character, and scholarship.
Describe how the four pillars of National Honor Society have shaped your development. How will you apply these pillars to your future goals? The four pillars of the National Honor Society are scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These four pillars have shaped my development on becoming a stronger individual.
I am currently an undergraduate at Rowan College at Gloucester County completing my pre-nursing studies. As I was growing up, I always enjoyed the idea of helping and healing others. My inspiration to become a nurse was watching my mother make a difference in the lives of elderly at a local senior living community as an Activities Assistant for years. Even though, she was unable to go back to school due to personal circumstances, the compassion she showed towards others around her was something special as she took care of them as if they were relatives. Whenever I had free time, I would just sit and play a game with the elderly residents hearing their life stories from when they were young.
I have a heart for service and a strong desire to make a difference in people’s lives. Becoming a nurse I will be able to fulfill my passion of making a positive impact on individual lives on a daily basis. I will be able to fulfill my nurturing and caring desires of helping others. I’m very passionate and fascinated with the medical field in all aspects. I strive for excellence, integrity and love interacting with all diversity of people.

People often stereotype me as some kind of skater and drug user. One of the reasons being is how i dress. I think i generally dress like some sort of skateboarder type kind of guy, but that doesn 't mean i 'm out skating every day or doing drugs, because people often think if you skate your automatically a drug user of some sort. The other reason is the type of music i listen too. i like rap/hip-
I great quote that I found that sums up my ideals is “It’s not the position that makes the leader; it’s the leader that makes the position” by John C. Maxwell, Laws of Leadership. 2. I have had a few leadership influences that have impacted my decisions throughout my career. Not all have been positive roles and unfortunately those
