Alex Jacobs was born in 1953 at the Akwesasne Reservation, near Rooseveltown, NY. Alex completed an Associates degree in Fine Arts (sculpture, creative writing) at the Institute of American Indian Arts in 1977 at Santa Fe, N.M.,and a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts (sculpture, creative writing) at Kansas City Art Institute in 1979. He is an instructor at the University of New Mexico since 1991, and has been editor of a number of journals.
