Hey Guys, you know that special feeling when the announcements come on and the principal say” to the class of 2015-2016 you are dismissed have a great summer”. Isn’t a great feeling to know not being able to wake up at 6:00 in the morning ! The problem is that there are schools in other countries having kids on a 12 month school schedule. In my opinion summer break should stay we should not ever consider having a twelve month program.
In the first place we all deserve a break especially the teachers also deserve to spend time with their family. Its also extra expenses on the school to have a all year round school. It explains this reasoning on page 15 in the first paragraph. Also, summer vacation is an american tradition that being going on for years summer vacation is a time for ‘’families to reconnect and for kids to

People think that it's and an great idea due to the fact that students have less time of and that they're not losing the things they learned. On page 4 they say that ‘’ Students in year round schools do as well or slightly better in terms of acade students in traditional schools’’. Also, these schools are providing remediation and enrichments for students during the breaks so that students have the opportunities to relearn materials, practice skills, and also catch up. In my opinion i don’t think it's fair for children to be on a twelve month enrichment programs just because they get small breaks doesn’t mean that there learning any more or any less then what kids on a ten month program. Studies may show that kids learn more when they're on a twelve month program but that isn’t totally true ,one reason it’s not true is because children are gonna forget skills they learn whether they're in a twelve month program, also kids have a short attention spanned is not that long so if the lesson isn't interesting some kids will fall asleep or some will day
After reading, ¨Say No To Year-Round Schooling¨ by Nick Castillino. I was convinced th having a summer break would be better for the kids. Amy said, kids who are struggling in school wouldn't have to go to summer schools anymore, it would be hard for kids to have such a long attention span, and it would cost too much for the school districts. In Amy MacDonald's article she said,¨Children who are struggling in school would no longer have to go to summer school.¨ But I think that if kids have to go to summer school during their breaks, It is a good lesson for the kids to do well in school so they do not have to go to summer school.
Gladwell begins with showing how America has trouble with education crisis. Arguments about education surround around teachers and students. Gladwell believes that summer vacation is an issue because it tends to be a long vacation required by the district. Gladwell demonstrates how achievement in many ways holds existence to a summer break without driving apart higher income children. Allowing them more months of school to make those children who cannot afford to have a productive summer, to have a useful.
Most of the time students have all of their summer activities planned then. Kids would not forget information they have already learned. Year round school would keep students sharp. So less of a chance for students to forget anything that they have learned. Students have school
The first reason why kids should have summer break is because summer is about making memories and is an American culture. According to “Is Summer Break Necessary?” during summer, families do things that they can’t do during the school year like go on vacation. In the summer kids get the chance to do things like go to camps, go on vacation, and just have fun in general. Another thing is summer allows students to participate in sports. Tradition can be hard to change but summer is a tradition
Year round school benefit is for a child not to have a lapse in learning or remembering what they’ve learned. That’s when the parents or guardians need’s to step in to continue educational learning. Teachers alone can’t be responsible for the education others need to play their part. Just because summer vacation has started doesn’t mean learning should have stopped. Since year round schooling isn’t what’s normal adjusting could be difficult.
Some schools roll our remediation programs during the summers to get student to reacquainted with the concepts they learned, and which they hopefully carry over from summer break back to class. Some people find the a noble effort, not every place can afford to include summer school in their local budgets. Have a year-round school doesn’t help with students who have difficulty with attention. The main reason for extending time in the classroom is to learn more. Well for those with difficulty focusing, this is counterproductive.
Your summer plans and dreams come crashing down… Summer is the only time of the year when kids get to be kids, when students finally unwind, and when children can enjoy the rest of their childhoods before becoming adults. Not to mention, summer break can teach students life lessons that they could never learn in school. Overall, this break is just wonderful for children attending school. Since summer break is so beneficial for an already stressed out student, you would think that schools would support
School Year Round Why would anyone want to go to school a year-round? (Rhetorical Question) School should be a year-round because then students will not forget their learning, be more focused on their education and it will be easier to earn their credits in a shorter period of time. Firstly, A school year-round should be offered each year so students will not forget the learning. Many students that come back from their summer break most likely struggle on what they have learned, for instance, everyone ignores most of the subjects and methods that everyone discovered last year.
When considering the choice of whether, schools should convert to year round schooling or not, the choice should definitely be schools should not convert to year round schooling. A few reasons schools should not convert to year round schooling is because students can even forget something they learned, in a short period of time, and then the teachers would have to reteach the same topic, which is extremely frustrating. The students would also spend less time with their family, because they don’t have the traditional summer break. Not only that, but it causes parents more stress to have to plan ahead of time for how they were going to take care of their children whenever they had breaks (which were very frequent). If this claim is not listened to, teachers teach the same thing repeatedly, family bonds weaken, it disrupts parents work, and it risks the child’s safety.
Year-round school usually has 45 days of school and then a 15 day break. But there is no summer break like traditional school. This leaves teachers with a little over two weeks to prepare for next school year. If teachers have to change their decorations or update their curriculum, they have barely enough or not enough time to prepare for a new year. This would put teachers in a hard situation and would not give them time to be with their family.
Finally, another drawback is that without summer break, there will be a financial toll. In a newspaper article titled “Year Round Schooling Explained”, it says, “Tourism and other industries that count on summer vacationers might suffer. High schoolers might be less able to get summer jobs.” This could end up causing a big financial problem for a lot of people. To conclude, the benefits and drawbacks of year-round schooling are about equal.
Giving a spring break every year would solve a lot of problems. Families with active children would have time for a vacation. The weather is always much nicer in the spring, and the four-day weekends get cut short because of snow days most of the time. Spring break every year just makes sense and it would solve a lot of
For years, kids have been exposed to a school model that involves roughly one hundred and eighty days of school, with several small breaks during school and a large break at the end. Summer is a time for children to play, have fun, and be kids. Without this summer break, kids might be susceptible to large amounts of stress due to the amount of days in the school year. Summer is also a good time for kids to participate
This may be true, but when you look at the bigger picture, a longer vacation just makes learning more efficient. Near the end of the year, most students become bored of school or become stressed so they don’t do as well, therefore if the year ended a month early, students would be doing better because of less accumulative stress. Due to this misunderstood flaw, some schools have a 45-15 routine. This basically means that after every 45 days in school, there is a 15 day break. However, a 45-15 day routine is not efficient because near the end of the 45 days, students will be counting down the days and will stop trying In school.
But if we extend the school year with more breaks students will be able to be outside during their breaks and will have time during the colder months just like they already do in the summer months and since they will be going year around they wont need to study. The second reason we should go to school year around with more breaks is to prevent summer learning
