The rebellion occurred on 8th December 1962 during the ruler of Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien. It involves the first nationalistic party in Brunei named Partai Rakyat Brunei (PRB), which led by Sheikh A.M. Azahari and the rebellion led by their illegal armed forced, which to be known as North Kalimantan National Army or Tentera Nasional Kalimantan Utara (TNKU) the commander, Jassin Affandy.. According to Harun Abdul Majid (2007, p.36), the revolt occurred due to the issue whether or not Brunei to join Malaysia, which to be known as Malaysian Plan. Furthermore, the 1959 constitution can also be the reason for the outbreak of the 1962 rebellion. This is because Dayang Noralipah (2010, p.163) illustrated that Partai Rakyat Brunei (PRB) reflects the dissatisfaction towards the 1959 constitution. However, Harun Abdul Majid stated that the 1962 rebellion was also because of the formation of Malaysia, but also due to another reasons such as the ambitions of the Partai Rakyat Brunei (PRB) that wanted to be independent and deport the British colonist in Brunei. They also wanted to merge Borneo territories, which involved Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei to be Borneo Federation, which to be known as the Unitary State of North Kalimantan (Negara Kesatuan Kalimantan Utara, NKKU) as well as aiming to make Brunei government as a system of democracy.
The Civil War was a battle of great importance to our history of the United States. On April 12th, 1861 this battle broke out between the Union States, North, and the Confederate States, such as the South. The Civil War took place all throughout the United states, and did not come to an end until the Union won the war on May 9, 1856. So, our question of “What caused the Civil War”, comes with three important answers. The three main causes of the Civil War between the North and the South were Economic, Social, and Political differences.
Uncompromising differences between the South (Confederacy) and the North (Union) created a civil war that lasted five years. During this war, Abraham Lincoln was president. His election led to the secession of many Southern states. After refusing to recognize the Confederacy as its own nation, the American Civil War commenced in 1861. The three main causes of the Civil War between the North and the South were industrial and agricultural economies, politics, and slavery.
In the fall of 1739, around twenty enslaved Africans gathered near the Stono River in South Carolina and sought out to rebel against slave owners in what would be one of the most important slave revolts in Colonial America. These Africans were said to be from the Kongo, who may have also been former soldiers. They planned to march and escape to Spanish Florida where the Spanish had issued a proclamation stating that any slave who deserted to St. Augustine would be given freedom and land. The enslaved Kongolese Africans were allegedly led by another slave named “Jemmy” (also referred to as Cato) who gathered a recruitment of more slaves as they headed south. On Sunday, September 9, 1739, they broke into the Hutchinson’s shop and killed the
Shay’s rebellion was a crisis happened in 1780s at rural areas of central and western Massachusetts. At that time, many farmers were bonded to high debt when they started new farm, because of the local government did not handle the economic crisis well, there was no pro-debtor laws (i.e. forgiving debt and print more paper money). They already sent letters to the elected leaders, however, they only getting ignored by the state government, also the national government could not do anything because they had no power under the Articles of Confederation, which had many weaknesses, such as; (1) The national government did not have power to tax, (2) Congress did not have power to forces the states to obey the laws, (3) There was no system of national courts, (4) Congress could declare war and raise army, however it could not force the state
One of the main causes of the War of 1812 was the violations of shipping rights by the British. British fleets started harassing American ships and taking British American citizen’s prisoners to fill their own naval vessels. In an attempt to help rectify restrictions of the embargo that had been originally set by Thomas Jefferson when he was president between Britain and France; President Madison spoke with Napoleon and he said that he would remove his decrees if the British did as well. The British refused and President Madison was left without a choice and asked Congress to declare war on Britain. During this time Britain was also encouraging the Native American Indians to cause conflicts with American settlers.
The French and Indian War, or the Seven Years War, began in 1754, as a result of conflict over territory and trade in North America. As both countries conquered the new land, letting their civilians settle there as colonists with the sole purpose of providing money for their homeland, they encountered the Ohio Valley; land that was assured to contribute to each of their imperialist motives. During the war where French troops allied with the native Americans against Britain, the laws given to the British colonies were left unmonitored, and the colonists evaded the strict taxation and rules against trading with other countries. However, when the war ended in 1763, resulting in a British victory, Britain was left a multitude of problems. This included the great national debt of approximately 122 million British pounds.
The second riot, August 26, 1765, unlike the first one, can easily be described as an actual riot escalated by a drunken mob mentality. This riot was sparked by the apprehension of suspected smugglers (Hutchinson, P. 18). The colonist, or more accurately the rioters, used the apprehension of these merchants to openly attack the lieutenant governor, Thomas Hutchinson. These attacks came after a mob had started a bonfire, while heavily drinking (Hutchinson, P. 19). The second riot cannot be attributed to British taxation without representation, in a description given by Governor Francis Bernard to the Lords of Trade he explains that the riots were "becoming a war of plunder… [attempting to] take away the distinction between poor and rich" (Bernard,
The Revolutionary War caused lots of violence on both sides; the colonies and the British. Both sides lost many lives, and both sides won and lost many battles. The British army had trained soldiers that were more numerous and experienced than the American Minutemen. Americans believed that they were defined by their beliefs, in fighting for their rights, instead of their heritage. The unity of the American people was a defined by everybody together in a democracy, instead of the British monarchy that people were suppressed by, and left to join America for.
The early to mid-nineteenth century was headlined by sectionalism, which ultimately led to the American Civil War. Some of the events and issues within that time period that led to that major event include abolitionism, sectionalism, the Compromise of 1850, the Kansas-Nebraska Act, and the election of 1860. Before the 1820s, abolitionism was more of a regional issue than a national issue. During the late eighteenth century and the early nineteenth century, many states in the North began implementing gradual emancipation laws which caused slavery in those states to become nonexistent within a few decades. The issue of abolitionism started to attract national attention in the early 1830s during the Second Great Awakening.
The historical phenomenon of colonization is one of the stretches around the globe and across the time. Colonization or imperialism is the process of settling among and chartering control over homegrown people of an area. Colonization was first led by Spain and Portugal, in search of riches and trade routes mainly. Then it was followed by England, French and many others who left for different reasons. British brought the geographic and political units formerly under their supervision, including dominions, colonies, and dependencies.
Back during the Iranian revolution, there were two political parties that had separate factors leading to the revolution. The party that affected the revolution the most was the Shah dynasty, where Mohammad Shah inspired the white revolution which supported women 's rights and economical growth. While Mohammad Shah did lead his country away from Islamic idealism, he did allow for economical growth and social reform which still positively affects Iran today. The Shah dynasty had a monarchal power system, which allowed them to have overall power of the country.
Ironically, western Virginians experienced a period of significant prosperity and growth in the years following the Whiskey Rebellion. Numerous anti-excise leaders in the western counties were able to return to their state and local government positions, some even using the insurrection to advance their political influence. Economically, in the aftermath of the insurrection, the lasting military presence in western Virginia boosted the local economy, bringing in more much-needed banknotes. Barksdale notes, “The soldiers’ demand for supplies and propensity to consume large quantities of Virginia whiskey assumed that money flowed into the burgeoning regional economy.” It was ironic that the soldiers sent to enforce the loathsome whiskey tax stimulated
The Serbian Revolution lasted for 13 years during 1804 to the year 1835. The revolution was both a national and social revolution which resulted in Serbia 's departure from the Ottoman empire as well as the forming of its own constitutional monarchy. The revolution was inspired by the French revolution. A cause of the revolution was the rise of poetry and literature which inspired a renaissance. Throughout the Ottoman empires reign, works or literature was composed and passed through which focused on the glorious history of Serbia before the Ottoman rule.
The French Revolution was one of the most significant wars that changed France’s history. The Revolution started in 1789 and ended in 1799 and was mainly initiated by the conditions affecting the Third Estate. Louis XVI was predominately the king during this time period but little did he know that an uprising among the peasants was happening. The French Revolution was caused by the Enlightenment ideas because of the American Revolution, the knowledge of rights, and the questioning of France’s government. The American Revolution was basically the “fire” that ignited the change the Third Estate wanted to see in their country.
There were three main causes of the civil war including slavery, sectionalism and secession. Slavery was a huge part of it and it led to the Missouri Compromise where any states below the border would be slave states and the anything north of that was free states. (Mrs. Wise) "The south feared the declaration of freedom for the slaves by government leaders in the North." Next, sectionalism. Sectionalism-
