2001 A Space Odyssey
The four main characters in 2001 A Space Odyssey are Dr. David Bowman, Dr. Frank Poole, Dr. Heywood R. Floyd, and HAL 9000. Dr. Bowman and Poole are both scientist and astronauts onboard the Discovery One which is set for Jupiter so that they can research an unknown radio signal they received from there. Dr. Heywood is the chairman of the NCA (National Council of Astronautics). He was there when they first encountered the monolith on the moon and he is the leader of the Discovery One mission. HAL 9000 was the AI in charge of flying the Discovery One, it was incapable of making errors and made to understand human emotion. I believe all the actors were well-chosen for their individual role because while watching

Then, we see Dr. Heywood going to Clavius, he encounters some of his friends, and they ask him about a possible epidemic on the moon. Dr. Heywood then meets the board to talk about a buried object they found on the moon which out to be the moonlight. Dr. Heywood goes to the moon and touches the moonlight, it then cuts to the Discovery One and says “18 Months later”. Dr. Poole and Dr. Bowman are on the Discovery One to figure out what this peculiar radio signal that they’re receiving from Jupiter is. The AI HAL 9000 states that there is a problem with a Satellite and that Dr. Poole needed it to fix it while going outside the spacecraft. Both men suspect there to be something wrong with HAL 9000 after they find out that there was nothing wrong with the satellite, to begin with, HAL states that surely, he can’t make mistakes and that this was a human error. After Dr. Poole and Dr. Bowman try to shut of HAL 9000 he starts to create this feeling that he doesn’t want to die, he then retaliates and sends Dr. Poole into space while cutting his oxygen cord killing him on the spot, after HAL sends Dr. Poole into space Dr. Bowman is outside of the spacecraft in a pod because he tried to rescue Dr. Poole, HAL doesn’t let him back in. After Dr. Bowman finds a way back into the spacecraft through an emergency hatch he reaches HAL mainframe and starts to erase him, it then cuts to Dr. Bowman leaving the Discovery One and make his way towards Jupiter. A strange tunnel of color and light starts to appear and then the scene suddenly changes, Dr. Bowman is then seen laying in his deathbed in a bedroom that looks like it is from older France. When Dr. Bowman is about to die the monolith shows up and he reaches for it which transforms him into what is supposedly the next stage of human
To begin with, Carr starts his article by attracting the audience attention in the introduction, by citing a piece from Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, in which HAL says
In his article, Nicholas Carr first sets the stage by describing how the movie A Space Odyssey began and how the actor Bowman, who had nearly been sent to a deep-space death by the malfunctioning machine, is
As always, he uses his public speaking skills to unify the country under his cause and persuade them to put efforts in so the Country gets a man on the moon. His dreams end up coming true even though he never got to see it. On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong, an American, is the first man to ever take a step on the moon. Due to his early on efforts, he gave the county the needed push to beat the Soviets and give our country a confidence
End the Mission Fairy Tale "When a white army battles Indians and wins, it is called a great victory, but if they lose it is called a massacre," - Chiksika, Shawnee. Native American writer and poet, Deborah A. Miranda in her online articled “Lying to Children About the California Missions and the Indians” published in March 23, 2015 addresses the topic of the “Mission Unit” that 4th graders are required to take and claims that the false story that is taught should be put to an end. She supports her claim by first providing a brief story of the missionization of California, then by explaining what the Mission Project consists of, then by including book examples on how people are taught the false stereotype of Native Americans and finally by
On the individual assignment, my selection was changed. I chose Geoff McGraw, James Butler, Donald Heap, and Patience Butler. (See Appendix A for detail). My rational for choosing these four individuals to return to earth was to foster a learning environment in which a culturally diverse group including, younger, middle aged, and mature individuals would interact with one another by bringing their different life experiences to the table. Choosing the same age group helps the individuals to understand each other and able to cooperate each other.
He states that “we’ll continue our quest in space.” He states that the disaster is not an end, but a beginning. He uses concrete details to inspire and persuade his audience. “There will be more shuttle flights and more shuttle crews and, yes, more volunteers, more civilians, more teachers in space.” Reagan adds that he wishes he could talk to all the people of NASA and show his gratitude towards them.
In regards to the historiography of gender politics in the Victorian era, the social position of women and femininity had become a problematic issue. Similarly, the gender apartheid instilled prior to the civil war in Afghanistan. A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, initially published in 2007, is set in Afghanistan from the early 1960s to the early 2000s. In this, it explores the story of Mariam and Laila as the protagonists, who teach the reader the reality of life as a woman in a backward Islamic country. The story covers three decades of anti-Soviet jihad, civil war and Taliban tyranny seen from the perspectives of these two women and observes how they become to create a bond, despite having come from previously living in very different backgrounds.
On April 15 the unsinkable ship went down into the North Atlantic Ocean. I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic by Lauren Tarshis is about the tragedy of the Titanic. The maze runner is a young adult, science fiction and post-apocalyptic book that has the purpose of introducing the reader into a fantasy world where things can get a little out of control and surviving remains the main focus. The story starts mysteriously with the title character named Thomas, a teenage boy, who wakes up with no memory after arriving with a moving box into a Glade surrounded by a Maze. The book explores different psychological stages of the characters and help up understand how it is like to live with no memory and surrounded by people you do not know. The author, a young man also, has a particular interest in adventure and survival plots due to their excitement upon readers. The author came with the idea of writing a novel involving a crowd of teenagers trapped into an unbreakable Maze filled with hideous creatures while he was dreaming.
He has helped test many machines to make space exploration possible and be able to learn about the universe. For example, in the article, How did Neil Armstrong change the world? , it says, “Neil Armstrong changed the world by becoming the first man in history to successfully pilot a spacecraft to land safely on the lunar surface and then walk on the moon.” This tells us how this event changed how space exploration is and the machines to run it. Also he helped teach and advance the technology used for space exploration.
The director created a focal role of the main character Tom Cruise and presented his journey with a name David through his dream, which seems quite unrealistic in my point of view. The actor walked around his life in a different dimension during his dream. He was the person who had everything with a beautiful face. He had a relationship with a woman named Julie Gianni (Cameroon), but he had fallen in love with Sophia (Penelope). Unfortunately, David had a car accident with his estranged former lover.

Abstract women have been living very miserable lives throughout the history somewhere because of gender differences and somewhere base on lame excuses of religion. They do not have equal rights, freedom, opportunities as men and have been suffering gender-based violence perpetuated towards them in the male dominated society. Afghan women show great strength and resistance in the face of adverse circumstances. They have developed traumatic problems and in reaction to their problems, they have grown very resilience to the Afghan tradition and men harsh treatment. The research entitled “Trauma and Resistance of Afghan Women: A Critical Study of Khaled Hosseini’s Novel “A Thousand Splendid Suns”, was intended to critically analyze the novel to explore trauma and resistance of Afghan women.
