Alfred Mercier once said, “What we learn with pleasure, we never forget.” Floyd County High School used to offer a four block schedule to all grades, allowing students to learn with pleasure. This year that has been changed. From an eighth grader’s point of view, there is not enough time in the eight-class-a-day schedule to retain what we are learning. With this schedule the homework load has been doubled. With merely forty five minutes in each class there simply isn 't enough time for teachers to deliver their materials.
Persuasive Essay My persuasive is about a four day school week for my school, therefore a four day thing can also help the students with homework that they can take home and work on it. If they lose their homework it may be essential for them to find and take to school, therefore they can turn it in well done. The homework they do can help them with their learning skills in school and at home when they are needed. Most other schools say that they have four day school week to encourage the kids to more with their lives and their school work without so much distractions in class, so that is probably why most schools have those kind of day and I think that what they are teaching they still are educational.
Highquality afterschool programs provide positive advantages for youth including strengths in academic performances, behavior, and overall health and nutrition. After school programs serve children of all ages and focus on mentoring and youth development. Presently, nearly one in four families currently have a child enrolled in an afterschool program. The participation in afterschool programs has been steadily expanding, rising by nearly two million children in the last five years. Eighteen percent of children depend on afterschool programs to provide a secure and encouraging environment, stimulate learning, and fill the gap between when the school day ends and when the workday ends.
Four-day school weeks are totally worth it! For this give students a longer weekend to possibly do homework or attend family events. Schools moving to a four-day school week is the best choice because students would have more weekend time, it would save money for the schools, and improve student and teacher performance. Students love the weekend so why not make it longer to give them more time to spend with family, friends, and even do some homework.Life can be stressful for teenagers, and they would benefit from time off of school. According to psychologist Norman Anderson, "Our study this year gives us a window in looking at how early these patterns might begin" (Jayson).
In order for his grades to improve, the Tuohys hired a tutor for Michael Oher, Miss Sue Mitchell. She would tutor Oher five nights a week, four hours each day, or however long it took for Oher to understand the material. She would never lose her patience with Michael no matter how much he struggled. Most tutors aid students for a paycheck, however, she was more interested in seeing Oher prosper academically. Eventually, with her help, Oher made the honor roll his senior year.
I know we are going through tough financial times, but I’d like you to hear my opinion on block scheduling. I've been using block scheduling since 6th grade and I find it incredibly useful and efficient. Block scheduling gives us, students, more time to learn. With block scheduling, we use an alternating scheduling system of 4 classes every other day. Each class is 90 minutes long, instead of 45 minutes.
Just because you are playing a college sport does not mean you can just go slack off in school. Study hall is a weekly obligation that must be done 5 hours a week including College 101. At first, I was nervous and I thought that I would not have a lot of time, but then I got to understand that study hall is a huge asset because you get your work done at college and you do not have to bring a huge stressful work load home with you. In study hall, I was able to get all my work done and I truly believe that study hall kept me away from procrastinating which made me have a successful fall semester in 2016. In addition to study hall being a part of being on the baseball team, we also went for community service to help an elementary school for kids and their homework and it was a great experience that made me be grateful that I was on the baseball team and be able to help kids that need
Love, support, shelter , food, clothing and one on one time is just some things a kid needs. Kids require quite a bit of money. No worries though, four million babies are born each year and most parents adjust just fine. When having a kid always make sure you have the income to support your kid. Make sure you figure it out.
Junior year I was settled down and determined to improve my academics; by the end of first semester of junior year I had raised my GPA by one point. Attendance I’ve had exemplary attendance throughout my four years of attending high school. I’ve always had great attendance because I don’t like to take days off. Part of being an adult is doing stuff you don’t want to do such as going to school to expand your education. I feel that my exemplary attendance has contributed to my improved grades and work ethic.
While my Catholic school experience was static – I was in the same class room everyday and saw the same classmates – high school experience is dynamic, I see new faces and new class rooms every day. However, this is not a hindrance to my education; I am currently ranked 5 out of my class of more than 300; in Catholic school my class size averaged around 20 kids a year. No matter the circumstances, I stay dedicated to my studies while also trying to challenge myself. In addition to my studies and education, I am dedicated and committed to helping my Catholic school community. For about 8 years I was an altar server, and then I started to play in the Teen Praise Band as the drummer from the start of high school.
